that number is different for everyone as it depends on how much muscle mass you have. the basal metabolic rate is the amount of calories that "your" body needs simply to sustain the basic life functions. since muscle tissue is biologically active it also requires energy 24 hours a day.

determine your BMR and that would be the bare minimum amount of calories that your body expends daily.

Good question! I am a single full time working mom that has NO time to do anything but work and take care of my daughter and I need to loose 30lbs from the pregnancy. I HATE having a job that I sit on my fat butt all day. *BIG SIGH*...
