Because its really easy to exploit people in mexico where 2% of the people own 99% of the wealth. Mexican officials can all be bought for a few pesos and slim is very good at it.

Because he bought a crap load of land and business in Mexico years ago has turned them around and the Mexican economy is getting some what better.
Now that the American Dollar is falling in value so people like Bill Gates are worth less now even though he has more dollars per say.

lol, u ppl have no idea....
there was this president called carlos salinas... no one really likes him here, mainly because a dollar used to be worth 3 pesos, and just after his term, it was worth 10 pesos... well this guy salinas sold the state-owned telephone company (telmex) to Slim... well, it isn't like it was sold directly to him, but he was "helped" in buying the majority of stocks, and at the end of the day he ended up owning it... afterwards, he bought sanborns, a very large department store chain, then he bought inbursa bank, and a loooot of different companies under GRUPO CARSO, he bought El Globo (which was bought by BIMBO afterwards)... he is also constructing a lot in Mexico City.. .specially downtown... he has a lot of business now in central and south america.... etc
he controls the stock market in mexico (literally)
some say a lot of his money is not his, but salinas'
and he does live in mexico city

because of the fact he's nice at controlling monopoly of organisation in Mexico. look heavily at his companies; they get rid of opposition and Mexico does not have strict organisation regulations as interior the U. S.. it is one reason he's richer than bill Gates. additionally, an incredible style of laptop clientele acquire illegally Microsoft softwares; so, much less income for the organisation. He is a brilliant man and he has worked hard to "achieve" his place at the top. I wish for him and all those who attain these wonderful positions, to realize "how fortunate" they are. If God is not put first, no one has achieved anything. It will be a "flaky" accomplishment that God will not bless. I wish that all of us can put God first. Thus, we will not ever suffer the consequences of ignoring our most powerful and loving Father.

distribution of wealth in his country. cost of living is down so everything he had could be liquid. thats why its hard to get rich...we sprenk 20k on food ans helter each year. but if we spent 5k thats 15k savings each year n we wouldnt know we had saved really.
