Because they get a little confused, depending on "their sight & point of view."

Satanists use a pentagram with two points up, often inscribed in a double circle, with the head of a goat inside the pentagram. This is referred to as the Sigil of Baphomet.

The True First pentagram always has one point up:
The pentagram was used as a Christian symbol for the five senses,[10] and if the letters S, A, L, V, and S are inscribed in the points, it can be taken as a symbol of health (from Latin salus).[citation needed]
Medieval Christians believed it to symbolise the five wounds of Christ. Used as a protection sign.
As a representation of the elements, the pentagram is involved in the Wiccan practice of summoning the elemental spirits of the four directions at the beginning of a ritual.

It's pentacle. Satanists use a symbol called a baphomet, which means "goat." It is the head of a goat inside a pentagram.

The satanists who use a pentagram/pentacle use it as a symbol of the human body and the self because they worship the self. Some people think that satanists are trying to imitate or mock witches/wiccans, but that's not true. Satanists don't care any more about us than we care about them, lol.

It gets on my nerves too when people say wiccans/witches are associated with satan. But those people are usually innocent people who have been deliberately misinformed by fundie witch haters. So I always say, "No, we don't believe in the devil. The devil is Christian mythology which we do not acknowledge." That usually clears the matter up.

Hope I've helped.

Blessed Be.

Because before it was a Wiccan symbol it was used by the Golden Dawn to summon and banish spirits, and before that it was used as a symbol of Satan by Elphias Levi. It has only represented Wicca for some 60 years, and for 40 of those years it has also been used by the Church of Satan (which was based on Golden Dawn concepts).

Although used in Wicca, the pentacle is an ancient middle eastern symbol and has even been used by Christianity representing among other things) the five wounds of Christ.

There is a wonderful description of it as a Christian symbol and being emblazoned upon Sir Gawain's shield in the medieval poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight"

Wiccan (and other pagans) use it to represent the four elements and spirit - with spirit being the top point.

Satanists use it upside down to express the worldly things (the elements) taking precedence over spiritual things.

A "Pentagram" is a five-line interwoven star.
a "Pentacle" is a five-line interwoven star with a circle around it.

The attachement of the Pentegram to Satanic activity goes way back primarily to media attention and the use of the inverted pentegram to symbolize evil. Though inverted meerly symbolizes the flesh over spirit, it was perverted to use in ritual as evil. Cerimonial ritual majik uses different symbols for ritual and these can seem a bit odd, and misunderstood by ohthers, it was therefore attributed the evil satanic designation.

Fear is one of the reasons why it's associated with the devil. But here's what I was taught. The inverted pentacle has nothing to do with the devil. It actually means you're pledging yourself to the study of Wicca for a year and a day. It's funny that it's associated with the devil since Wiccans don't believe in the devil. And the Christians used the symbol of the Horned God and Baphomet as represntation of the devil and all things associated with it. See, striking fear in everybody. So that that they will worship their God.

The pentagram is a symbol with many meanings. Both Wiccans and Satanists use it. Replacing one ignorant fact (pentagrams are uniquely Satanic) with another ignorant fact (pentagrams are uniquely Wiccan) does not fix the underlying problem!!!!

Ignorance.

I hope you mean pentacle. And it is the same reason that people associate the swastika with Nazi's. As Christianity demonized the ancient religions they also defamed their symbols. The pentacle has been used as a goddess symbol for many thousands of years.

...ignorance.
For the same reason that they think wiccans worship the devil...and do nothing but sit around their alters and perform evil spells and other stuff.
If more people understood the wiccan religion...and how they worship the earth and all the creatures on it.....and in nature.....There'd be alot more happy people walking around.
...so again...they're ignorant.
