Yeah... jumping out of a perfectly good plane at 30,000 feet and falling about 5 miles before opening my chute didn't make much sense to me philosophically... at least the first couple of times... but you don't have to like it... you just have to do it. Once you're out and on your way, it's pretty cool. That said, I don't believe the Marines habitually do that kind of thing.

Marines are trained to jump either from an airplane or helicopter. The training is very tough and in very rigourosly situations. Once they have finished the training , these marines are prepared to comply any mission, they will have to jump from the very best suitable transport according to the mission, so the answer is that marines are professionals and they know exactly what to do when they have to jump either from an airplane or helicopter.

They need special training for that. Most Marines DO NOT learn to jump. And the stats posted by the idiot above are wrong. About 2/3 of Marines are deployed, some only once, some more than once. Don't want to, then try for something in Administrative. They do an important job, but rarely deploy. It doesn't make sense to deploy them.

well it may seams that sometimes
marines do jump out of aircraft but it is a blast to do as i was told it is not the first jump that is it is the second one because you do not want to get back into the airplane lol but when i did jump out i enjoyed it so much they had to keep me away so that i would not jump all the time

It's possible...whatever needs to be done should be done. But really think about it before you join. There are a lot of things you won't be able to do once you join, vactions are scarce, family time limited. You are practically their's until your contract is up. You can even go 4 hours away on a weekend without getting a "pass" Just have it in your mind.. if you join up you are 98% to go to Iraq. Fear is pointless in the military. Talk to a recruite and ask what is generaly required.
