I've been to several psychic fairs. I have friends who run booths at them sometimes. At the last one I went to, there were a lot of different displays (crystal healing, dowsing, Tarot readings, channeling, past life regression, aromatherapy, and so forth), plus lots of gemstones, incense, and other stuff for sale. Some of the displays were rather New Age in focus. It was interesting. Every time I go to a psychic fair, my girlfriend wants me to bring her back some gemstone jewelry.

I went to a psychic fair once. It wasn't in a church - it was a street fair type of thing. A friend of mine and I went - and we each had $50.00 to spend - and thought of it as pure entertainment.
One guy told me that I needed to buy more lingerie in order for my relationship with my boyfriend to work. Another person told me that I'd been a drooling, crazy person in a past life. Another person told me that I was perfect love. Hmmmmm. These people were mostly "students" - and charging $15.00 bucks for a reading.
My friend and I went and drank a beer afterwards and talked and laughed about it. Nobody told me anything that could be proven - or that made any difference. Perhaps the "psychics" absolutely believed what they were saying - or maybe they knew in their hearts that they were full of crap. I have no idea. But - like I said - it was entertaining.
I'm interested in knowing what kind of church would hold such an event. If you get a chance - could you find out the religious affiliation and e-mail it to me?
Go to the fair and see what happens. But - keep an open mind - and plan to spend some money.
Namaste!!

I think you should go if you want to. Some people believe that prayers are just spells (some spells use prayers - you can try to find them online) as well as blowing out candles on a birthday cake. There are people who don't believe in God but have a better life than some who do believe, so I doubt you'll be punished for wanting to go. Just have fun and enjoy yourself. In the end, isn't that what God would want you to do? Damn, if there were any of those around here, I'd go to them, too! We all get buried 6 feet under after we die, there isn't any prejudice there, so don't worry about it. Having Fun is the key.

I went to one once a couple years ago. I had a reading done with runes. The "psychic" asked me to reach in the bag and grab some runes and put them one by one on the table.
As I did, I watched her.. every time I put my hand in the little velvet bag, she would put her head back and flutter her eyelids, murmuring stuff... it was pretty amusing :)

Well, being that the Bible says to stay away from that kind of thing, and they say that "there's one god but it's the one of your choice", they're not Christian. Not sure what kind of "church" that is, but it sounds like one of those New Age "feel good" ones that don't hold to the Bible or anything else and just go with whatever they choose one day and switch it up the next. So, not sure why you included Christians in the question. :)
And no, haven't and won't ever go to one. :)

Honestly if it was cheap or free I would probably go, if at all possible.
Why not...it would be fun to see what they had to say. Doesnt mean you have to take it literally or as the one and only truth. Its just fun and interesting things.
Ive had my palm read and tarot cards done in the distant past but not auras...that is the one that would really intrigue me.

I don't think that being psychic or reading auras have anything to do with religion. It simply sounds like this is an open minded church that is sponsoring this fair.

This is the typical view of most pagan religions. God is defined by man. When we define anything we have limited it to the traits we understand or comprehend. Some things are beyond comprehension and therefore undefineable. The name given by any faith to their deity is defined by that faith. Pagan faiths generally accept that anything seen as a higher power than you/man is acceptable they are usually open minded to the definitions of others. One of the main ideals is to take what is meant for you and leave the rest.
Being open to the information around you has less to do with religion that with perception. We accept that light creates heat but we can not see how. We accept that many things in our daily mundane lives work like electricity and phones without a complete understanding of them. It has more to do with being open minded and willing to accept that some things work without our defining them as individuals. Animals use ultrasound like bats, we as humans have a similar ability to pick up vibrations around us, we just choose to dismiss or ignore it.

I've never heard of a psycic fair, but it sounds like nothing more than fortune telling and little fun carnival-like things like that. By all means go. Don't worry about faith, it sounds kind of like fairytale stuff to me, so just go and have fun.

Sounds like a brew from hell!
I'd rather go to a bar and have a drink with my fellow believers in Jesus Christ
