I did not, My first child did not, My youngest two did. The reason why, is because my oldest, although was extremely intelligent, he could not function at school do to the fact that he had separation issues.
I did not want that for my other two children so I put them into a preschool, that I could at, but I could also choose not to be there to.
My oldest, could read, wright and spell, add and subtract before he ever started school. academically he was well advanced, but emotionally was no wheres near ready.
The youngest, two, I do have to say they were not as academically ready as he was but they were definitely emotionally ready for the separation and they did fine academically also.
Yes you can give them more academically one on one, but they really do need to be socialized. weather it be at a preschool. a daycare, a social group so they know that they can be away from you and still be ok.
I don't care how you do that preschool, playdates, seperation is just as important as learning their letters it may be even more important to the success of your child.

Yes, I went to two years of preschool.
I believe it to be benificial, but perhaps in social skills more than academic. I learned alot more academically at home. My parents read me books for a long time, we used to read every night to me and my sister, books like Narnia and Little House on the Prarie. My sister was reading American Girl books by 1st grade.

Yes I did...I think the idea of preschool is to learn social skills such as sitting in circle time, interacting with others, etc than academics although those are taught too.

No. My mom homeschooled me for prek because where I lived, at the time, the preschools were so full that only the kids that needed it got to go, so that meant kids from low SES or kids that were not at the level they needed to be for kindergarten.

I went to pre-school!!!! Had a ball (Most days)...
I remember singing "Puff the Magic Dragon" while bawling my eyes out (Sad Sad Song), I remember playing blocks with the boys and playing water play. I also remember going on an excursion (I think it was a play with a BIG boat) and we had lunch in a park... and my mother came!
WOW... reminising... it was like 27 years ago!

No. Preschool is practically just a day care in disguise. You can easily learn all that and more from your mom at home- that's what I did.

I went to pre-school but i know kids who did not go to pre-k and they still have the same opportunities I have. So not going to pre-school is not a disadvantage.

Pre-K is very popular in Asia countries, particularly in those developed cities. It reflects that high income earners concern more on their kids' education.

Nope. Nor kindergarten. I did earn my Master's though. Kindergarten and pre-K are for those parent's who don't want to be bothered by children, so why did they have children in the first place?
