All of the posters so far are out in left field and don't get it. Especially Kojak, what a bunch of propaganda crap-he must have a live feed from Faux Entertainment (news). Greenspan has even come forward and said it was for oil.
The fact that there is no oil flowing from Iraq is exactly the proof that this war is for oil.
Its supply and Demand-China is raising the demand but since we are in IRAQ CAPPING OIL WELLS- we are keeping the supply a constant with out the introduction of Iraqi oil into the market. That means, the Saudis control OPEC and the Price. Saddam's Oil for Food was taking more in profits than people realize, and destabilizing the Supply controls the Saudis have on it. Do you think it is a coincidence that Bush's family money comes from the Oil Biz and Cheney is in the Oil and energy Biz? When there is that much money and power at stake, there are no coincidences. If you don't think people in the world are motivated by greed and money-you are a naive fool.

p.s the oil SANDS in Canada are harder and FAR more expensive to get at sift and convert to crude.

Contrary to what the kook left will tell you, this is not a war for oil. And I can prove it.

1. If we just wanted the oil, we could have just asked to have the sanctions against Iraq lifted. They weren't working and cheating was already going on. By lifting the sanctions, Iraqi oil would start flowing freely.

2. The US did not seize the oil fields and start pumping oil into tankers headed for the USA.

No, we went because of the WMDs. There were none and we know that now, but that's why we went.

Hmmm, how much oil does the USA get from Iraq?

Or Saudi?

Might want to look at Canada, Mexico, Venzuela, etc. thats where most comes from

There are many very good reasons for this war....none of them having anything to do with oil .....we get no oil benefits from the Iraq war....we buy more oil from Canada than we do from the ENTIRE Middle East.
I know you do no want to hear this BUT there were and still are WMD's......not only were they found ....they were even used on our troops.......and on civilians...... in addition dispite Wilson's claims Saddam did buy Yellow Cake from Nigeria
I have proof of ALL of this (email me.....I am tired of writing this over and over again).... but you wanted "other "reasons
Try these :
Saddam declared war on America.
Saddam tried to assassinate a sitting US President
Saddam has tried reapeatedly to kill America servicemen
Saddam paid terrorist bombers $25,000 to attack Americans
Saddam actively supported Al Quida
Saddam refused to comply with UN peace Accords
Saddam had access to nuclear weapons & delivery systems
Saddam trained Al Quida terrorists
ALL this we know and can prove.....this we suspect
Saddam supported and funded the 911 terrorists
Saddam had vast quantities of WMDs
Finally there is the fact that since Vietnam .....nobody has taken America seriously ....we average a terrorist attack every month.....Iran invaded our embassy .....Klinghoffer was pushed off the highjacked Aquili Laurel cruise ship in his wheelchair....214 Marines were slaughtered as they slept....the twin towers were car bombed......embassies were attacked......airliners were blown up over Lockerby..... nine American citizens were kidnapped and held for ransom for 12 years.....Nobody respected us or feared us.....we were a toothless paper tiger
Since the invasion of Iraq .....SIX YEARS.....not one terrorist attack on an American target.....Terrorists got the message.....the tiger has teeth and will bite......Kadaufy no longer supports terrorism..... Syrias leader is reluctantly cooperating in stemming the flow of terrorists through his country.....NO MY FRIEND THERE WERE A LOT OF GOOD REASONS FOR THE WAR...... and good reasons for the contiuing war......withdrawal now would mean a greater loss of American lives......not less

If that's the point, I'd say it was a bust, wouldn't you?

I guess if you subscribe to the theroy that our leaders all morons, than that fits, but since they aren't it seems to me the strongest refutation of the "war for oil" garbage.

only an idiot would think we would go in for oil. What happened as soon as we invaded? They burned most of there oil so we couldn't get any which was expected on our side. So how could we be going there for oil?

if we were in it purely for oil, then we would have taken over oil rich Venezuela since it is a lot closer
