Of that household $100k income, about $7k will be put in my 401k. I've also got mortgage interest of about $12k a year. This is for a family of 3 including 1 dependent child.

I would say not too likely, but it would be factors you haven't mentioned that would trigger it, if it all.

The Republicans have been trying to ditch it for years, but the Dems won't go for it.

Congress is still mucking around with it. My guess is they'll kick the issue down the road for another year by freezing the threshold at last year's level.
