I think Islam is a monothesiastic religion based on the teachings, as laid out in the Qu'ran, of Mohammed who is believed to be the prophet of Allah, or the One True God. I think there are two major denominiations with Islam known as Shia and Sunni Muslims. I think the religion is one of the largest in the world and particularly widespread in the Middle East. I think it consists of Five Pillars or main rules; these are; declaring your belief and devotion to the one true God, Allah, taking part in ritual prayer five times a day, giving a fixed portion of your income to the poor, fasting during the month of Ramadan and finally the pilgrimage to Mecca which every Muslim should do at least once in their life.

I think like every religion Islam is fundamentally comforting and reassuring to those who follow it an dgives them a strong sense of shared identity. I think that, as in every religion, there are fundamentalists who would use the religion to justify ther crimes against humanity. I think that every Muslim I have ever known has been, without exception, a pleasant, friendly and deeply spiritual individual.

That's what I think.

I think Muslims are the most open, loving, generous, kind people i have ever come across in life and i think Islam is a beautiful, peaceful highly misunderstood faith. Peace to you.

Scottish Muslim woman.

Kenny p rest assure that we dont want to kill you and we dont want to recruit you. Neither are part of our faith and if you knew the first thing about it you would not be making such ignorant comments and embarrassing yourself.
Islam - Let there be no compulsion in Islam.
Islam - To kill one man is to kill all of mankind.
Now does that sound like i want to kill you? How do i manage to get through the day without killing the hundreds of non Muslims i encounter? How do i do it?

There are a lot of wonderful, kind, generous people that are Muslims and practice Islam. It is just those few oddballs that ruin the image of the entire group.

I'm starting to think that this question is sort of old....but this is what I think:

I think Muslims are some of the most passionate, God fearing people. I think they are very grounded in their beliefs and seem to want to share it in a non-confrontational way more than other religions, who just want to convert you and push you into doing so without you feeling it truly in your heart. Because of their approach to non-Muslims, many people end up converted anyways because of example.

Islam when followed in it's true form is beautiful and peaceful, enables direct communication with God w/o a pastor, or a rabbi. It's just you and God at the mosque. Many of it's laws are just to help believers stay away from temptation.

That's what I think.

i think of how happy i am a muslim. The thing is I am also unhappy that Muslim extremists are making a bad name for the religion and causing such terror. Racism is one thing i have to deal with every day and I hate it so much.

I think of Islam as a legal system that holds many Muslims in slavery. Muslims deserve much better than that. The love of God and the sacrifice of Christ is freely extended to them, yet they are prevented from even learning of its truth. The designed legality is intentioned to mask the grace of God. The devotion and zeal of many Muslims reveals intense desire to do good.
