there is a single fierce ruler who has not been named yet....but I am guessing from turkey....Daniel the prophet made it clear who the beast would be...it is a kingdom...and it is a revival of the ancient Grecian ( selucid) empire, which is now the modern islamic nations of the middle east and east....the center will be istanbul, (not rome) which is a city on seven hills, as described in the book of revelation.
if you look at a map of the region, turkey forms the head of the beast...the little horn comes out of turkey which will subdue the 3 islamic factions and unite the muslims under one ruler. The 10 kings - nations- that make up this beast are already present. all they need is to announce a central figure to unite under. This will be the upcoming Mahdi they are all waiting for now...this is what the sunnis and shiites are fighting about in Iraq...the fight really has nothing to do with the americans..if the americans left...they would still fight...
Iran (Zech 5) will initiate the attack on Israel with nuclear weapons. the war of Gog and Magog ( Ezech 38) also has to occur.....which is Russia ,Iran and Syria coming down on Israel.....this can occur at anytime in the near future.....I am guessing within the next 10 years or less.

: Antichrist means against or instead of Christ. The term applies to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organizations, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the role of Messiah.
Does the Bible refer to only one antichrist?
1 John 2:18: “Young children, it is the last hour, and, just as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists; from which fact we gain the knowledge that it is the last hour.”
2 John 7: “Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.” (Notice that the “many antichrists” of 1 John 2:18 are here referred to collectively as “the antichrist.”)
Some of those identified as antichrist—
Persons who deny that Jesus is truly the Messiah
1 John 2:22: “Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ [or, Messiah, anointed one]? This is the antichrist.”
All who deny that Jesus is the unique Son of God
1 John 2:22: “This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son.”
Compare John 10:36; Luke 9:35.
Apostates
1 John 2:18, 19: “There have come to be many antichrists . . . They went out from us, but they were not of our sort.”
Those who oppose Christ’s true followers
John 15:20, 21: “If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also . . . But they will do all these things against you on account of my name.”

The late Pope John Paul thought GW Bush was the antichrist. It scares me when I agree with the Pope.

As said before, I've studied the book of Revelation in three different languages, for the purpose of finding out exactly what sort of encoded message John put into it.
His name was Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, but History remembers him as Nero Claudius Germanicus Caesar, the fifth Emperor of Rome and the last of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He was the beast described by St. John. Caesar had John banished to the Island of Patmos, where he wrote his manifesto for early Christians, encouraging them to rise up against the Empire that persecuted them.
The Anti-Christ was here, but he's gone now. He died on the ninth day of June in 68 Anno Domini. He committed suicide rather than be killed by his traitorous praetorian guards.
Sorry to disappoint you.

When John wrote Revelations, he was trying to get Christians to stop trying to worship both Christ and Caesar. Caesar was the one he identified as the Antichrist, the beast, etc.

The Biblical and more accurate term should be False Messiah.
The long awaited Messiah of the Jews who denied Jesus will be.......... the Evil "False Messiah" (False Christ).
(Christ in the Greek language means Messiah)
Here are Christian references that say the Antichrist will be a Jew who rules from Jerusalem.

He will be a Charismatic leader that will speak of acceptance of all except for conservative Christians and Jews.
He will single them out as the evils of society.
My guess he will show up after the rapture.
