when they say "vivid" on the color modes of a camera does that mean the blur effect ?? like how a pic is blured focused in a certain spot?

please help and answer with a picture to see if you know exactly what i mean. thatnk you

vivid refers to colour saturation, its a film term that has crossed over to digital - so vivid means strong saturated colour

There is no need to answer with a photo. Look up the word vivid. That will give you the answer. It simply means a strong clear image. It's a printing option not a filter.

It has nothing to do with blur or focus. Antoni and Edwin are correct, but here are a couple of visual aids for their answers. These are taken within seconds of each other. The only difference is that I changed the color preference to "vivid" for the second shot.

"Vivid" refers to color enhancement.

What you refer to as the "blur" effect is caused by using a wide aperture (f2, f2.8) with a lens of 50mm and longer. This is also known as "Depth of Field". The actual term for the "blur" is "bokeh" which refers to the creamy out of focus highlights in the background.

If you do a Search for "Depth of Field" you'll find examples on wikipedia and several other sites.
