I am soooo scared! She was saying "oh you'll go to He(ll if you curse, drink, etc."

Well I'm afraid cuz i swear sometimes. I'm 13, and Catholic. WHAT SHOULD I DO??
Do YOU believe in these things?

Also, I am vegetarian. And my friend thinks that if youre vegetarian you "worship" animals, and it's very wrong.

Repent of your sins.
Pray -ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins.
Confess your faith in Him -
that He is the Son of God,
that He died on a cross for YOUR sins,
and that he rose again from the dead.
Then thank Him for the gift of forgiveness, and eternal life:

"I (Jesus) tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me (the Father) has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

John 5:24

Now start reading your Bible -
Start with the Gospel of John.

First of all, don't worry about Dr. Phill, his show is designed to create shock in people. He's not even a good psychologist, after watching his show a few times I came to the realization that he's a poor doctor and highly unethical since his show boating only goes to do more harm than good. Second the woman you saw is an extreme example of religious fervor gone unchecked, remember that cursing as we know it today is very different from the kind of cursing used when the bible was written, and even Jesus issued some curses (The Fig tree is an example). Even Jesus drank wine on occasion, and although excessive drinking is bad, in moderation it's not a bad thing. Finally, being a vegetarian doesn't mean you worship animals, you just have a proffered diet. Being a Catholic, maybe you should look up St. Francis of Assisi. People have some extreme ideas, and you have to see through those to find the truth for yourself. Make up your own mind about what is ethical and unethical behavior. Any priest will tell you that some of the things you're talking about aren't that bad.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

yes the bible does say all of those things are wrong but dont forget that the Lord is a very merciful God! We all make mistakes, we are not perfect we should try our hardest, but lucky we have forgiveness we can repent and keep trying to be like jesus christ! My advice is just to do the best u can try not swear anymore and do the best to follow chirst and if u slip repent ,pray for forgivenes! As long as u are doing ur all the Lord will fill in the rest! And just because ur a vegetarian doesnt mean u whorship animals, so dont worry about it!

The Bible says that you will be made accountable for every idle word that you speak. So watch what you say.

The Bible says that there is life and death in the tongue. So watch what you say.

Let's talking about drinking and high school students today.
Binge drinking is killing children. They get hard liquor from Liquor Stores or from their family's home bar. They end up in the hospital rooms with liver damage or dead. These students get into cars drunk and kill themselves and others. Get your mom to call the Emergency Room at your local hospital and ask how many of these kids are admitted each week.

Are you scared yet???

You need to be!!!

Do I need to mention teenage pregnancy? Only reason I didn't say too much about it is because you mentioned "cursing and drinking, etc."

Those people on Dr. Phil were trying to save your life and trying to tell you the truth. The wages of sin is death.

You kids read Harry Potter and everything else EVIL. Get you a Bible and start reading the TRUTH.

We judgmental people, care enough about you, to tell you the truth. Who knows it just may save your life.

No, I did not watch Dr. Phil, today. I wish I had, for your sake though.

First, I will tell you that if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He came in flesh, was crucified, died and buried....and on the third day He arose....then you KNOW the LORD, in your heart! This is much more important than the way some people interpret scriptures.

Secondly, there are many religions, in this world. Religion, is a way to worship! Including, the catholic church! Some religions are more rigorous and demands are put upon the "parishoners." This is what you witnessed with the woman, on Dr.Phil. She believes these things as this is what she was taught. Just as you, are taught to confess your sins to the priest. So, do not let people sway you, in your faith!

Being a vegetarian does not make you an animal worshipper! It is a dietary choice but, like religion...people will have different "ideas" about this life choice!

Hun, you need to do what YOU know is right, in your life! Stop letting others define you! From what I have read, you seem to be a wonderful person and I am most impressed that you would be concerned about your relationship, with God!

I want you to know this, God desires that you pray to Him, for forgiveness and for our heartfelt needs. You just keep seeking God, through your prayers and get yourself a good study Bible so you can explore God's truths, for yourself. I ask this for you as I desire that you know that God desires a relationship with each of us. A personal relationship, where we talk with Him (pray) and do that which we know is pleasing to HIM! I hope you do not mind if I pray for you too. Prayer is a gift, from another....and it is a gift, I desire to give you! I pray you will look to God, for answers and not so much man. I pray God guides you through your life so that you may serve Him, in truth and in Spirit!
Peace Be With You,
Gail

John 17. Immanuel said no believers were lost except one and that was Judas, as prophesy was full filled. The apostles stated that ministers in the churches are under strict judgment, and also said that belivers should abstain from
idols, bloody meats, and sexual immorality and no greater burden do they or the spirit put on us. This is in the book of acts. In the book of James, Immanuel's brother tells off the rich ministers, that did not follow the example of Immanuel or the apostles. While yes Immanuel and the apostles received much wealth especially in the book of acts the apostles did , they did not store it up for fancy and luxurious living while people in their communities were in poverty. They distributed their wealth, similar to the Amish. It dose state in the word not to be in debt to any man. Which the rich preachers ask for your credit card number all the time , for one of thier endless books etc.You will not hear many rich preachers , preach against credit crack materialism, which has caused people to lose not only marriages etc but these now record foreclosures and or homes. The apostles lived similar to the amish and really cared for thier congregations and or communities. The amish do not have the debts or the bills most do yet avg 40k a year plus from farming and producing
handmade well constructed products. James said the rich ministers be it they did not repent , were going to burn with their riches. Its okay to be a vegetarian, its in the bible, and since your not a minister especially a rich one , you are not under strict judgement.

honestly, I don't believe in god. I believe there is a god, however. I read the bible and it just doesn't make enough sense to me. Plus these other separate religions and how some experience more than others. Just don't believe in what the world is saying. You keep living and thinking that way, you'll never grow or experience. You'll be ignorant to whats out there. My sisters and brothers on my dads side are living proof. They are saved Christians and believe in everything the bible says. That's how they were raised. I feel bad for them sometimes. You know right from wrong, but don't cut yourself off from the world and never experience life. You shouldn't live your life out of a book that's only proof is faith. Believe there is a god, but have your own perspective of who he is. YOU KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG.

We live glory to glory and we do fall at times.
Trust me that lady is NOT perfect and God knows her failures.
This is Your salvation not your parents, your priest or your friends. Get into the Bible New Testament.....God has done something wonderful and wants us to enjoy our lives in Him and those around us.
The wages of sin is death BUT we don't have to sin to have fun.Been there done that and it brought mostly pain to me and others.
If you want to be vegetarian OK well Jesus said it doesn't matter what goes in the mouth but what comes out.....Just make sure your getting protein and good carbs from something else.
God wants us to have a reverential fear for Him not that He is up there ready to strike us dead with a lighting bolt or something.
I believe if you Seek God in ALL His Righteousness All things shall be added to you.
God is FUN. Taste and see that the Lord is Good. Sit Down with the Holy Bible and start in New Testament(John),Proverbs, and Psalms you will see. You have to read and discern for yourself, sweet heart! You will be held accountable for the things You Know according to Your obedience...No pressure. There is no condemnation in Christ....

oh boy...Dr. Phil. ...keep in mind that anybody who gets on national television and tells everyone they're going to hell is a bit off. And according to her the disciples and jesus are going to hell as well since they drank wine.(Infact, the first miracle Jesus performed was turning water into wine for a wedding)
Secondly, David was called the "man after God's own heart", and he actually killed a man, commited adultery, blasphemy, and lied. God cares about your heart and whether you try/want to serve him, not what you've done.
And I dont believe this lady has never cursed, had a drink, ect. Who is she kidding??? She needs to worry about herself and stop lecturing others!
And being a vegetarian is not "worshipping" animals. Its simply deciding not to eat meat, often for health reasons. I'll have to look it up, but in the Bible god actually ordered three boys ( they were captured by the Babylonians) to become temporary vegetarians. I'll give you the verse later.
As for me, I believe that everyone makes mistakes. I dont think that God sits up there with a checkboard waiting to mark every mistake.

Don't watch that rubbish! That woman is probably some crackpot religious maniac. Don't believe a word of it.

Cursing is not going to send you to hell - neither is drinking when you get older - Jesus was a wine maker himself - it is not sinful!

And you are allowed to be a vegetarian - this shows that you care for the welfare of animals and respect them. It is not wrong to be a vegetarian.

You are probably a great person - you sound like you are. Keep living life the way you are and don't listen to those really crazy religious people.

Edited to say - I will probably get thumbs down for this but I don't care - there are some very religious people on here too that will tell you all sorts of crazy mixed up stuff too - don't listen to them. Believe in your own beliefs and never EVER let anyone tell you your beliefs are wrong or sinful or you are going to hell.

Such people are like the Jewish clergy of Jesus day. He called them hypocrites for obsessing about forms and outward appearances and not the substance of worship in truth and faith.

As for vegetarians, speaking as one lover of Big Macs, you are probably healthier than all of us. Do you realize most people before the flood were like you? It was after Noah landed from the ark that God allowed man to eat meat of animals. (Gen. 9:2-4) The faithful men and women before the flood certainly never worshiped animals.

So, although these things are not to be done, moderation in all things is advised.
