Common fact,Emperor Constantine is responsible for assembling the Bibles stories as we have them now.

there were in fact stories left out of the Bible

Where are all those stories?
Corruption was huge back then, so was control over the people.

Does it make you question what was left out, and why?

I only ask because with homosexual child molestation occurring on such a wide scale through the years, by the most devout servants of GOD within the roman catholic religion....wouldnt one see this as more of a trend then isolated incident?
Could this be considered a catastrophe, and an error in teaching methods required by the overall religious organization?

1, 10, even 15-20 incidents...okay..thats one thing
But thousands upon thousands through the years.
Makes you think doesnt it?

someone calling me sick for posing a very valid question based on the facts.

Sounds like a religious fanatic to me, whos as blind a sheep as the Popes have always wanted people to stay.

Come on...Faith without works isuseless, right?
How many roman catholics are their on the world, and in th country alone?

Yet why they dont assemble together and trully do something to tackle our problems...shows theirs a lack of prioritizing.

When kindness to the poor andoppressed is an act of worship
and Faith without works is useless.

Why, why are ther so much homeless being unattended to?
shouldnt the leaders of those that ove GOD effort to this..
and in that effort...
there is no obstacle greater than GODs power they believe in..
so why cant they solve the homeless problem???

JAKEJR -- you trying to justify al the thousands upon thousands of molestations and betrayals by en of the cloth by comparing that number to the overall percentage?

And your facts on the Bible's assembly need to be rechecked....I cant argue with someone that chooses to avoid the fact that Constantine was not responsible for the Bible as we know it.

People like the bottom two -- are the reaons why the number of athiests is growing..and justifiably so.

Instead of conceeding to the travesty of the epidemic that is child molestation within roman catholic religion...
they try to justify the numbers, or sidestep the question, like its no big deal.

How tragic that is

Not all your assumptions are correct. We know where the missing books are and why they are not in the Bible. Also, child abuse is a world problem and some cultures have a long history of this abuse. These Priest should be tried and punished if found guilty but it is not only a Church problem. Peace

Wrong. The bible predates Constantine by several hundred years. Constantine like King James funded the bible compilation from earlier sources, not new authorship.

What facts were left out of the bible? If there were any, you would not know them 1900 years later. The sources for the bible are well documented. Concepts like the Gnostic belief that Jesus is god not man were rejected. However, anything included use the older existing manuscripts.

Clearly, if you think the bible is a collection of stories, including missing stories, why complain about Catholic beliefs? Who cares if you another story? But somewhere you have lost God's word as spoken through the prophets.

Answer: I do feel cheated by this question. I expected an honest question but got desultory anti Catholic ramblings; forgetting the teachings one is trying to defend. It is God not man that is the answer, and if you want to find God, you need to start with his book. No matter how incomplete you may think it is.

Do you feel cheated or intentionally swayed by what they teach in public school?

Because on a per capita basis, the public schools have a far worse abuse problem than catholic clergy. It just doesn't get the press.

As for your other assertations, Constantine did not assemble the Bible. This was done by the council of Nicea. Many books were left out because they were either repetitive and added nothing to the books that were included, or were considered inauthentic. In early christianity, people were hungry for any word of the Christ, and a whole industry developped to feed this hunger, resulting in such things as the "gospels" of Thomas and Judas. If you don't think this is possible, I refer you to the popularity of the DaVinci Code.

You should study early church history a little more thoroughly.

The "books" that were left out of the bible were first under investigation as were all the books for authenticity.

As the bible is the word of God,but does not contain the complete word of God as many books were lost as stated in the bible.
Some of the lost books :

Book of Wars of the Lord (num.21:14)
Book of the Just (Jos 10:13)
The prophesies of several prophets (II Par. 33:19)
One Epistle of St Paul to the corinthians (1Cor. 5:9)

It is pointless to further point out from the NT of lost revealed truths that give testimony.

Lost books in the Old Testament, do you suggest we make them up for you ?

Now regarding the actions of some of the clergy. Human weakness does not detract any evidence from truth.

If I were a wicked father to my children does that make the institution of fatherhood evil ?...by no means.

Being in the religious orders does not automatically make you a saint, given that rational every priest that dies would be cannonized which is simply not the case.

They have been given every blessing, all the means possible to become saints yet give way to their passions and placed God second.

Like Judas he was chosen by our Lord because he had what it took to be potentially holy and a great servant of God, but threw everything away and gave way to his passions which led him to a bad end much like these that are in question.

But, it did not take away the truth the Apostles were taught by Christ.

As your history of events in the Catholic Church are questionable, the lesson is already given.

God bless,

JMJ

I would feel cheated if I bought into the hocus pocus.

Corruption was huge then and is now. What is a better way to control you're people than put the fear of God into them. Follow these "commandments" or you will writhe in Hell for all ETERNITY. Seems a little harsh for one lifetime of mistakes doesn't it?

If there is humor to be found in this situation, it's that all the bible thumping jerks think we should take this book literally, that we should live everyday by its standards. You know like that standard that it is immoral to have sexual relations with someone of the same sex. Oh you mean like your devout servants of God were doing raping children of the same sex. Well, get me a ticket on that train of hypocrisy.

That's why I left the Catholic church.

Not to mention the fact that women have minimal roles in that faith ( unless you are going to hopelessly try to emulate an impossible standard of all-suffering, no complaining, obedient, never sinning women).

Edit: you make a lot of valid points. It's easy to point out others "sins" or try to explain sexual abuse away. The real work comes in when Catholics all decide that enough is enough. People can change the situation, if they want it badly enough.

It is NOT a fact that Constantine put the Bible together, not even close. What books were considered inspired was decided by a Church Council in 325. Yes, others were excluded but there were reasons and anyone who wants to know why can find out. It is the Protestant reformers that took books out of the Bible.
As for sexual abuse of children, priests do not have a monopoly on that horrible crime. Most abused children are victims of male relatives and they are usually married men. The percentage of priests is very low as are the number of victims of priests if you consider how many priests there are in the world.

No, because the Bible was finalized and all assembled long before the Roman church was founded.

Your "common fact" is wrong!

I realize that those in the Roman church have their own little view of history but its just a lie to feed their own egos.

Those who abused children and those who looked the other way will answer to God directly for their crimes.

Hey, look at me!!! I'm another Catholic basher. Funny thing is, you only strengthen the Catholic belief when you hurl insults. Intelligent Catholics and intelligent Protestants know their arguments before they make them. You need to check out as to why the books were left out. The fact is (simply stated) the books that were left out were inaccurate to the point of contradiction of the Pentateuch. Contradictions of the Gospels are obviously deservedly left out. You don't write a textbook with the right answers as well as the wrong ones do you?

I don't feel cheated but I do feel sorry for Catholics. To be in a religion that is saturated with guilt is not what the God of the Bible wants for any of His children.
