I need to find a cheap, reliable electric pump to buy that can pull water from a fishtank and put it back in. It doesn't need too pump very much water (will be operating out of a 1-2 gallon tank). Cheap is the biggest requirement, because I need to buy 4-5 of them. Also, I need it to run on DC, and needs to be able to take varied voltage input. This is because I have a program controlling the speed the pump goes by increasing or decreasing the DC voltage output based on other variables. I am using it for a science project. Thanks to people who answer!

Edit: By cheap, I mean 5-10 dollars, but anything close is probably fine.

You can use a 12Vdc Marine Bilge pump (Rule 25D). Other DC pumps used in environmental sampling are available as well (see link geoscientific).

Water pumps are now being used to cool PC's. Look for a cooling pump for a PC. (probably 12vdc)

properly your mechanical water pump is more suitable than sufficient to pump water via your engine even at low rpms. even if you've a electric powered or mechanical your won't be able to pump extra water notwithstanding your engine than what your thermostat will enable you to. The benefit that i can see over electric powered must be the more suitable horse capacity you would get over having your mechanical

Jabsco is a good and probably pretty cheap. Sheck online at marine supply places like West Marine or Fisheries Supply. Also check your local boat dealer for bilge or livewell pumps.
