I sure am. I think it is important to help you community and important causes whenever you can. I am an active member of Habitat for Humanity assisting in home repairs and construction. I am also an active member of SOLV. SOLV is a non-profit organization that brings together government agencies, businesses and individual volunteers in programs and projects to enhance the livability of Oregon. I volunteer for Special Olympics Oregon throughtout the year at their multiple events. I also enjoy assisting at the Doernbecher Childrens Hospital. During Christmas, I do try to buy products to support causes also.....like St Jude's Children's Hospital, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and the Salvation Army for example. Every little bit helps.....= )

I give monsy to Saint Jude and volunteer for several local charities. I am an active participant in Kicking Bear one-on-one this is a mentoring program for at risk youth. I also can NEVER pass up a Salvation Army kettle (and I volunteer to ring bell each year also) I donate time to teach archery to children in 3 different programs I also donate time and funds to Boy Scouts and I am the fund raising chair for our troop (we always adopt a family or two for the holiday season and aid others through out the year)
It is all about giving back to the community not only do my self and my husband get involved but my children (15 and 11) take part in all of it too

I am not "a member" as such of any charities....but I do make a small financial donation to Oxfam on a monthly basis....and also to the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children)....not to mention Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London...where I have twice been a patient! I have also just set up a monthly donation to Macmillan Cancer Relief. My monthly donations are small....I hope they are making SOME sort of a difference. I wish I could do more...but I would need a bigger income to do more!
The world needs more people like you....keep up the good work!

I don't trust any of the ones' you have just mentioned.. too much of their charity money goes to administration not enough to actually help anyone or anything.
Its' better to volunteer directly then you know where the money is going for.. I have quit many a charity when I found the money not going to what was needed but to a building or supplies.. and then there was nothing left to actually help!

Yes. But you don't need to be just a member. You can help everyone is in need. They are all around us and we don't see them. Have you ever wondered that the woman that lives near you might is in need of money? How happy would she be if there was someone to help. Do we wonder what the others need? What we have to do to improve ourselves and help? Ten minutes a day with that thought would be helpful and a good start. Just ten minutes...
