Frontline really isn't that expensive if you only have one animal and they don't weigh much ... it's usually a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of flea powders, sprays, etc. Frontline is great because it's easy to apply ... you dab it between the shoulder blades ... and eventually the medication comes out in the dander, which should kill most of the fleas in the house. And, from what I understand, some animals can have an allergic reaction to fleas, which can cause hair loss. You will need to know how much the cat weighs if you haven't taken her to the vet lately. You can get her weight by stepping on a scale and getting your weight, then stepping on the scale with her in your arms and taking that weight. Take the weight with her and subtract your weight alone ... this should give you an estimated weight. Frontline is sold by weight, and it's available at the vet's office, but you don't have to take the animal there to get it ... just give them the animal's information. One of the last doses of Frontline I bought was about $13 for my dog. They may ask you if the animal has been tested for heartworm, but this is because if it hasn't and you request the heartworm test after the application of Frontline, it can give you a false result ... it's not harmful or deadly to give an animal a dose of Frontline without a heartworm test first.

It's not an instant thing ... it may take two or three days to work ... but it's great.

I used Advantage Multi on my two kittens. After about two treatments, I found no more evidence of fleas in the house, no dead fleas, no flea droppings (skinny, dark curls, best detected by using a lint tape roller and checking for it on the tape). Since you have problems with fleas in your area, you should highly consider putting your kitty on a monthly flea treatment. I heard that if Frontline does not work on a cat, that Advantage will.

Be sure to vacuum regularly and wash all bedding. Do not bother with flea powders or collars. Collars don't work and powders are nasty and messy. And if you have a weak vacuum cleaner, the powder will reside in your carpet and give a funny feel to the carpet. I bought a Dyson and it sucked the flea powder right up. The area was vacuumed with a Kenmore canister prior to using the Dyson.

Good luck.

Bombs don't work. Nothing from a pet store does.

Get some more Frontline. It does work, it's just that you also need to treat the house - with a PROPER SPRAY from a vets. Sounds like your cat has a flea allergy, in which case you need to treat the problem from all angles - I recommend Frontline Plus because it also kills the flea eggs and larvae. I also recommend Program suspension or injection as it sterilises fleas. You can try Advantage or Revolution or Advocate instead of Frontline if you like, just PLEASE don't waste any more money on pet store treatments,

First of all if you flea dip your cat,it will make it very sick or maybe even die! Dip is for dogs. you should treat it like head lice.Wash everything in hot water ,spray your house and wash your cat in flea soap. This is a long process and a lil expensive but in the end it is worth it. BTW the whole fleas die in the winter thing in a myth.

Make an appointment with the vet and have them do a flea dip. While she is there you need to go home and rebomb the whole house again.
