Not just for others but for almost everything. Love for your life, love for your family, love for god, love for everythign you have...ect. Love is so big, the greatest emotion a human can have. Love is wonderful, but only holy love, and love for the right reason.
“Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.”
words from the bible.

The best explanation I can give of this kind of love is better read by opening up the bible and turning to the book of 1st Corinthians, chapter 13.

Romans 13:10 - "Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." God showed the world that He loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins. Christ loved us so much that He willingly layed down His life for us, that any who would believe in Him and His atonement for their sins would have everlasting life.
Showing love for others, especially when they disagree with us is hard at times, but we need to remember that God loves everyone and we just need to get ourselves out of the way and allow the love of Christ do the rest. God bless you!!!

Love for others causes Christians to preach and preach and preach. atheist hate this but we don't want them in hell, but if they and other peple wish to CAST THEMSELVES into hell then they will have to get past us first cus we aint gona stop preaching salvation and the word of God. God bless.

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." -John 15:12
That is a pretty powerful description of how we should love.
