Maybe you should get this dog snowsuit because the boots are built in and won't fall off.

Humm in sighthound field events nobody has found a boot that stays on and doesn't slow the dog, so when the grass is dry & abrasive everyone wraps vet wrap around dog feet, often with a bracelet of tape to hold it on.

I do when I need them to stay clean before a competition or something. They take some getting used to. I put them on them for a while in the house, telling them how good they were when they quit messing with them. Just a few minutes at first and increasing the time each time. Now they don't bat an eye at them when I put them on. They don't come off, they stay on with some pretty strong velcro.

The ONLY time I have ever "bootied" my dogs was when mushing (sledding) on crystaline snow that would have cut the dog's feet up.
Its a PITA!!! The booties fall off.....
Edit: LilRedHrdGrl... perhaps your dogs walking nicely on their way to the show ring do not lose their booties.. but even nicely made booties will come off eventually (1 or 2 booties out of 32 booties on 8 dogs) running in snow/slush/ice.

I have never used boots on my dogs. I have always cleaned them w/ a damp towel and then dried them before they came inside after being out in the mud or snow. I have had friends who used them and they seemed to work and stay on for short times when they went out to potty. As others have said they need to be taught to wear them first.

It takes a while to get them used to it, but fr the most part they will stay on. My collie will wear them in winter, no he is not a doll he is a dog, but with sooo much salt around this city I would rather protect his feet while we are out walking. i would rather look silly walking a 65lbs dog in boots then risk injury on him.I did first buy them when he ripped a pad on his foot open to protect his foot from infection while walking. But now i will continue. Plus with all the hair he has ithe snow balls up in his feet and turns to ice

A lot of dogs that are "service dogs" get shoes put on them because they get in and out of cars all day on hot asphalt and it bothers their feet after a while. Also they are used a lot on dogs that go hiking, so that rocks don't get in between their toes. They are not neccessary for most dogs.

unless they are walking on ice and snow or really hot pavement for hours, its unnecessary to buy those boots for anything except looks. sometimes dogs pads can get hot or cold which would be the only way this would help.

I don't but I put an ointment on their paws because there is a lot of salt on the ground. I do not want their little paws getting dry and all cracked up.
