I'd say definitely a light color lager, or Belgian style ale (for a touch of sour bite to it if the pizza is heavy on toppings). These beers can go well with oily foods and will compliment pizza well. Also an unfiltered weisse beer would go well but they can be an acquired taste.

A good value for light lager is something like:
Yuengling
Brooklyn Pislner
Sapporo
Kirin
Red Stripe
Corona
Schlitz/Pabst Blue Ribbon (yeah I know, but it's pizza so it's ok)

Belgian style (they have more alcohol and are much more expensive)
Brooklyn Local 1
Duval
3 Philosophers
Chimay

Just a recommendation. The true beer that goes with pizza is the one you like and wanna have regardles of what anyone else says.

Something cheap, domestic and light. How bout Coors the "Banquet Beer" and Miller the "champange of Beers"...First off those beers suck, so where do they get these slogans. But yeah, Bud Light, Coors light, Miller lite work great. They have very little hops or bitterness to them, so it won't overpower the heave pizza flavor. I would stay away from the Full bodied Domestics, Micro Brews and Stouts. You won't be able to eat much if you're drinking those.

I really like light beer. It's refreshing, doesn't have too much taste so it doesn't compete with the flavor of the pizza.

I've been surfing the web more than four hours today seeking the answers to the same question, and I haven't found a more interesting debate like this. It is pretty worth enough for me.
