I agree too. I have plenty of dreams such as
me falling off a plane one time, but I didn't actually see me hit the ground.
some weird flying orb that had a face and could talk was chasing me, and I guess it would kill me if it touched me but didn't.
A very strange dream of me in a cafeteria with fellow kids, and one guy had a head that looked like it was drawn by a four year old, and he farted and everybody laughed and I yelled out HAHA IT WAS TARAN!! (because I knew a Taran at the time), and the weird headed guy didn't speak or make a noise, but just got up, his slowly walked over to me, (it was dead silent in the cafeteria at this point, with everybody watching me and the "person") and the guy just stared at me, but I somehow knew he was going to do something "very bad" to me.
People whom I didn't know or even knew what they looked like, but somehow knew they were coming to kill me.
And hundreds more, but never actually died in any of them.
But, my sister knows a friend that was at a sleepover and was dreaming that he was drowning, and his friend heard him choking and woke him up in time.
I also heard what your grandfather told you too.

It is a fallacy that to die in a dream is to die in the waking state.
To die in a dream means that the dreamer has finally crossed a bridge between the spiritual and the physical. It means that he has conquered a particular battle between soul and physical self/emotional self in the waking state. This "death dream" is a validation that the old thoughts/ways of doing things/struggles/self doubt, and so forth have been put behind him and that he has "awaken" from these things to come out on the other side, which is new higher vibrational thought patterns/open mindedness and acceptance of self, others, the things we can and cannot change, and all that is around us.

I don't know what the "new age" interpretation of dying in a dream means but I can say for sure that it doesn't mean you die in real life. I have had two dreams in which I died and (as far as I know) I'm not dead.

That is a myth. People often dream they die, because dying is a symbol for a loss of identity, or an end to a way of life. It is common when there is a major change, such as going through puberty (no longer a child) or getting married.

In my dreams I died before and nobody cared. The next morning, I woke up crying. It was the saddest, scariest dream I have ever had.

i died in my dream once, but then I came back to life after. i really don't know what it means. i've heard that it means you're going to live longer, having the opposite effect. same thing when you dream other people have died.

I'm not sure. Some of my friends say it is impossible to die in your dream. But....it is always possible I guess.
