This article in NASCAR.com truly describes the true sportsmanship of two of NASCAR's greatest drivers, Jeff Grodon and Jimmie Johnson
Many fans called Jeff Gordon a whiner but can he still hold that title after this:

"Those guys have flat-out killed everybody," Gordon said of Johnson's No. 48 team. "You've got to give credit where credit is due, and those guys deserve a lot of credit. We didn't step up and win the races when we needed to. We gave them a run for a while, but now we have to figure out how to get the best finish we can at Homestead and go into the off-season on a positive note." (Source: NASCAR.com)

Even after Jeff claimed so strongly that it was over, Jimmie and Chad would not admit that this championship was theirs.
Jeff deserved this championship but Jimmie took it away.
What do you think?

I think the "Championship" goes to the guy who, after the next race, has the most points according to the rules. That's the way the sport is set up now.
I think the last two races had the greatest finish laps ever.

First of all, I am a huge Gordon fan, have been since he started racing. I don't think he deserves the championship because he, along with everyone else knew the last ten races are what mattered. He knew he would lose the lead he had built up during regular season. Jimmie peaked at the right time. Jeff peaked too soon.

I absolutely HATE the new system, and I Hate the COT, its made for some pretty boring races from what I have seen, and it hasn't helped anything from what I have seen. It hasn't kept costs down, actually I think its made things worse for the smaller teams. I love nascar, and I'll continue to watch it, but I'm really disappointed with the way they keep changing the rules and points.

So Jimmie does deserve the championship in my opinion. And it will take Jimmie having a flat tire and going a lap down..... late in the race at that, or being involved in an accident for Jeff to win it.

I agree. Both of these gentlemen have been the class of the sport on and off the track all year. I wish there were a way that the points total could be even at the end of the year & they both won. They both deserve it. I am a Jimmie Johnson fan, but have the utmost respect for Jeff Gordon. This chase has been tough to watch because I end up pulling for them both. I wanna see Jimmie go back to back, but I want to see Jeff get his 5th at the same time. Both teams deserve to be recognized for accounting for nearly half the wins this season. Seriously, nearly HALF of the wins!!! Let's have a tie & let their wives thumb wrestle for the Cup!!! It's been that good of a season!!!

your right! But now let the play-offs begin! You can't really say that Jimmie took it away, He beat him out come on he has 10 wins and won the last 4 races fair and square, he raced clean and won he really deserves the title he as proved himself again, and again!!! It's not like he took Gordon out to get the win., Jimmie Johnson has been the most consistent in the chase and deserves the title BACK2BACK CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO 48 GO

Well I don't think Jimmie took it away ,Brian France did. Under the old rules Jeff would be getting his sixth Championship. But Jimmie is a great driver and he deserves it under the new system.

well Jeff does have part ownership in the 48, so I dont think he will be too dissappointed. 48 would have to get in a wreck for the 24 to win and Jimmie has done a stellar job this year. Both a re true champions. Cant wait to see Jr with Hendrick next year. What a team.

Now drivers just have to worry if there in the top 12 to win a championship that championship belongs to jeff but jimmie stole it. Doesn't matter anymore if you have all most 30 top tens to win a championship.

as far as gordon whining.all the drivers cry about the other.gordon is always winning so people say he whines more.I am not a fan of the chase.nascar needs a point system that rewards winners more than the runner up.yes they added points for wins when the chase started but do that all year and if someone clinches the title with 10 to go he deserves it.that is the only thing that should have changed.instead of 5 points separating 1st and 2nd make it 20 or more.then drivers will be fighting for those wins.

Yes Jeff had the regular season in his Hip Pocket but couldnt carry that through the Chase. Jeff Gordon is not a whiner in my Book--The way he explains things and expresses his self causes Non Gordon fans to call him a Whiner and a Crybaby.Jeff I think offered his congratulations to Jimmie in a Good Way!!!!!!

Big deal, the seasons almost over. Jimmie Johnson will probably win the Nextel Cup. Anybody who has been watching the race season already knows that. What's the question? "What do you think?" ..."yes"
