The 80GB and 60GB PS3's are the same except that the 80GB PS3 has more hard drive space, and the 60GB PS3 has better backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games because it has the Emotion Engine chip inside of it. The 80GB PS3 comes with Motorstorm as well. The 80GB PS3 is backward compatible, it just cant play as many PS1 and PS2 games. The 60GB PS3 can play almost every PS1 and PS2 game ever made.

The 40GB PS3 can play PS1 games, but it cannot play PS2 games, and it only has 2 USB ports (the 60GB and 80GB PS3 have 4 USB ports), and of course, the 40GB PS3 has less hard drive space.
