I have no idea what it means for something to go straight north when talking about pencils being flushed down the toilet. But, as I answered in your other question regarding this matter, unless the pencils were small, they have not likely gone all the way through. Yes, the toilet will still flush and may even be fine with flushing a couple times, but the paper and fecal matter is going to build up and cause the toilet to back up. There is a trap built into the toilet designed to hold water in the toilet bowl and keep sewer gases out of the house. The pencils will be caught somewhere in this trap and will require someone to pull the toilet to get the pencils out. Snaking the toilet will not work as the cable will simply blow past the pencils. Using a flashlight and a small mirror may show you where the pencils are and you can fish them out with a bent coat hanger. If you can't see them, you can't guarantee the pencils went all the way through. Keep the plunger handy if you can't see them since you can't be sure they went all the way through. My husband has been a plumber for 32 years and we've been parents for 28 years.

Take the toilet up by unscrewing the two bolts. Take it outside and turn it over. When its emptied rattle it. You'll know then. I've actually had to replace a toilet when a wind up toy got stuck in it.
