I've heard it said that those who convert are looking for God, whereas those who just follow the religion they inherited might not be. it makes sense in a way..

From the outside it looks like I've converted, but from the inside, it feels like I just finally began to practice what I always knew and believed, instead of what I was brought up to practice.

My faith hasn't changed, it's just that I used to practice a different one, and downplay what I "knew" inside.

Now, I've let the other fall away and fully practice the faith I was blessed with from my childhood.

Raised Catholic, bloomed pantheist.

I converted to Wicca. I was looking for answers that satisfied me. I'm not saying Christianity is a bad religion, it just had answers I didn't particularly like, and answers that I considered wrong... But Wicca is the right way for me.

I was raised in the religion. I thought really did think it was the TRUTH, until I stopped going 4 years ago, and can now see that it is no better then any other religion.

I was brought up with the freedom to choose on my own. Given the freedom to have my questions answered to my own satisfaction. Was not pushed in any direction, but encouraged, by my mom, to find whatever religion worked for me. Both my parents where brought up with different religions, but both Christians,

Raised Presbyterian, and now I am a Unitarian Universalist. My quest for understanding and a personal relationship with God led me to where I am today.

Great Question. I don't question people's faiths and how they came to have their beliefs. I do think, however, that many people believe what they are told to believe rather than searching meaning for themselves. I don't think there is one good answer.
