Yes, microwaving does a better job at killing bacteria. Microvaveing milk will extend the shelf life for another week.
Using a non-radiation method, like heating on a stove, the temp needs to be brought up to 165 F, not 165 C.

Microwaving heats food irregularly. So one spot can be full of bacteria (cool ) and right next to it can kill bacteria ( hot).
So cooking on a stove or in an oven has a better chance of killing all the bacteria.

No...Microwaves (even those w/ turntables) do not heat food evenly. All food must be heated to at least 160 F before bacteria are killed.
