It is a Catholic thing. I don't get it either. They take the blessed art thou amongst thing and try to make her super human. They need to face the fact that she did not stay a virgin all her life she gave birth to other children after Jesus.
She had to have a savior just like everybody else. She needed the Holy Spirit just like everybody else. Jesus told someone that His mother, brother, and sisters were those who kept His commandments.
God Bless you to JJ

The Catholic church does not teach that Mary is to be worshipped, although many Catholics mistakenly do so. Mary is held with deep reverence by the Catholic church as the vessel through which God provided us with our savior.

Christ performed his first miracle, under objection, at Mary's behest. It is generally understood that as a good son, he could no more disobey her than he could God the father.

It is generally accepted that the dead in heaven can hear our prayers. The Catholic Hail Mary prayer is a plea for Mary to pray for us. While you may wonder if your prayers are heard, there is no doubt that mary's prayers are heard.

God has always been portrayed as a father figure, which implies a stern, unyeilding discipline. Mary's position as the mother of God implies that she can act as an intercessionary, much as a mother would enjoin a father to be lenient when punishment is called for. This is not unprecedented in scripture, as Abraham was able to argue the Lord back to parade rest and stay his hand in Soddom and Gamorrah. The cities were destroyed in the end, but Abraham did earn them a reprieve.

There is no evidence that Mary had other children, and significant evidence that she did not. A widow in that culture had no legal standing, and required a guardian. had there been other children, this would have been a moot point when Christ died. But from the cross, he enjoined the apostle John to take her as his mother and care for her, which he did. The passages about Jesus' brothers ignores the possibility of Joseph having children from an earlier marriage, which we dismiss because the western romantic image of Joseph is of a young man, for which there is absolutely no evidence. Most marriages in that time were prearranged, not a result of romantic love, like ours are. What caused Joseph's early death? Perhaps the explanation is that he was more than twice Mary's age, and a widower.

They are brain washed ... Mary is a sinner Luke 1:47 , she was not a virgin her whole life Psalm 69:8 ,Matthew 13:55 ,Mark 6:3 ,15:40 . Also she is not a mediator between God and man Timothy 2:5 .She was just an obedient believer . It is not scriptural in what catholics believe .!!

Mary is the mother of Jesus. She is not meant to be worshipped, and Catholics do not worship her, but do honor her as they do all the other saints. She is their Mediatrix, or intercessor, between man and god. They pray to God through her. This is why you hear the phrase "hail Mary" when Catholics pray or say their rosary.

No; I am Christian also ... and I don't get it either, JJ.

They have lost the way.
Jesus said:
"I am the way, the truth and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me"
So, you tell me.

I can tell you one thing:
Mary hates what they are doing to her: how they are worshipping her - making her into a goddess she did not want to be, and making a mockery of her son's role and God, the Father's way.

Catholics worship Mary and will even tell you they do not but they are a counterfeit religion and may look like a real deal but are just a false religion. There is so many things they do that come from pagans and other religions of the time.

Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

scripture clearly states that what was in Mary was not God it was a "thing" and what came out of Mary was not her son but the son of God (see last 3 words) Claiming that a sinful lady was Gods mother is sinful.

Jesus is the creator and existed forever. He has no beginning so he has no mother

he even called her "woman"

A while back, somebody stated the Catholic relationship with Mary in a very good and accurate way. I urge you to read this. Again, you don't have to believe it, but at least you will know how the Catholics feel about Mary from Catholics who know, rather from those who spread rumors about a faith they know little about.

While it's true that the Roman Catholics regard Mary as the Blessed Virgin, the Bible doesn't teach that.

How old are you?

Mary is the mother of Jesus. She is not to be worshiped.
