About 5 lbs. 4-6 hours with veggies and seasonings.

Just check it after 3 hours. Stop when it's done. Cooking is an art as much as a science. The salts and such that you add will influence the temperature. The atmospheric pressure will also influence the temperature. You'll have to figure out what works with your ingredients and environment. Basically 3-4 hours and then check every 30 minutes after that. You can't over-cook it in a crock pot....at least I've never had trouble over-cooking as long as I kept water in it.

It will NOT be done in an hour. It's near impossible to overcook a roast in a crock pot. The longer it cooks the more tender it will be. Foods cooked on "low" require 8-10 hours (minimum). Foods cooked on "high" take 6-8 hours. So... turn the temp to low and check it in about hours from now....

On low, around 10 hours or more. On high, maybe 4 or 6. If you cook on high just keep an eye on it. Sometimes it gets overdone on the edges. Get a roast bigger than one pound. Throw a bunch of veggies in there like carrots and maybe some small potatoes :)

6-8 hours on low, with about a cup of water and a few boullion cubes. You can add potatoes, onions, and carrots but I prefer mashed taters with my roast. :o)

I don't know how big for three people but I know the rule for turkey is a pound per person-----maybe someone else will know that one!

i always got the biggest one i could fit into my crockpot. then the leftovers would be great for the kids on some toasted wheat bread the next day. i put mine in as soon as they go to school and usually feed them around 6. so i just left it cooking on low the whole day and it comes out delicious.
