My husband has been a plumber for 32 years and we have been parents for 28 years so we've had experience with plenty of things flushed down the toilet. My husband says the pencils are likely caught in the trap and you'll need a plumber to come and pull the toilet. He'll empty the toilet water, flip the toilet over and see if he can pull them out that way. It may require rolling the toilet around to see if they'll come loose that way. If the pencils were small, it may be possible they went all the way through, but that is not likely. Paper from simply peeing may go down, but a bowel movement and paper will probably get hung up and may cause the toilet to over fill. The worst thing we had flushed down the toilet at our house was a toy boat from the bath tub. We had to replace the toilet and re-do the bathroom since we found rotten floor boards when he pulled the toilet. My husband has pulled cardboard toilet paper tubes, wedding rings, disposable razors, combs, and plastic cups among other things from people's toilets over the years.

if the pencils are jammed up in the toilet, they can cause more problems....soon paper and more may hang up on them and it could possibly flood the place. Trust me, I've seen it. I doubt you can reach them. where things usually jam up is near the top of the "p" or at the bottom near the floor (it goes up and then it goes down "p-trap). If the toilet operates normally, maybe the objects have gone completely through, which i doubt. The toilet may have to be pulled. like the other person said, you could try a coat hanger with the end bent into a hook and see if you can snag them. If you do, pull until they break and or come out. broken, they flush down the drain and your troubles are over.

I liked putting the end of the roll of toilet paper in the toilet, flushing, and watching the roll spin out more TP on the way down---this can be repeated, and I will confess that I have done it a few times as an adult, under the influence of alcohol or marijuana---good harmless fun.

I'd call a plumber if nothing else works. You might try breaking them down with a bent coathanger and hoping that they clear out of the pipes. Otherwise a plumber will need to come in and snake out the pipes. Best of luck.

If you can not reach them with your hand, try fishing them out with a wire hanger. If that doesn't work and you don't want to take the toilet apart yourself, you will need a plumber.
