It's a man's world in the eyes of some of us. The Bible teaches Adam came first, Adam the male. The quran teaches that the female came first [ch. 4, v. 1]. I think women and men are different but share an equal ground as human beings. Some of us have better talents in some areas than others. We are all different, and at the same time similar. Think of it in this way. If one sex existed and the other went extinct than neither of us would survive. We depend on one another. I love YOU (plural) women. :-)

To put it simply, women make 77% of what men make for doing the same job, assuming experience is the same and she is not a minority, in which case there is about a five year experience buffer required.
As for whether adam of eve came first, that is a tricky question because it was recorded by patriarch religions of the time that had women about on terms with slaves. Naturally they will tell you that man came first, is bigger, stronger, and smarter. Thats how history works.

Short answer... It is a "man's world" (Men hold most of the important roles and positions.) and man was first.
Genesis 2:20-22 (New King James Version)
20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Man was first, woman second but it is only the two together that can make each other whole.
Mark 10:7-9 (New King James Version)
7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
God made man to be the head of the household and the Bible says that women will try and contest that and they do. The problems is when men don't treat women the way they are supposed to with respect and love and the same in reverse. Jesus forgave the sins of the woman with the flask of perfume just before his Crucifixion, Jesus spent time with the Samaritan woman that was divorced 5 times and now living with a man (Jews at that time wouldn't even walk into a Samaritan town little along talk to one.. and to talk to a Samaritan woman... NO WAY), he forgave the woman caught in adultery (where was the man... hmm) ... even the first witnesses to Resurrection were women. These are all things that show women are important to God and it is when this is ignored that we have the abuse we see.
Just look at how men treat women in any music video (gyrating toys in bikinis for men to play with.. no respect) and women are acting more like the men that are pigs now days... very sad!
God loved both men and women enough to send his son to die for our sins... and we* get picky and choosie about who is important...not the way it is supposed to be.
God Bless
Todd
* I say we because all of us forget about how others feel and get that me me attitude so prevelant in our falling apart culture!

No, not a man's world! Yeah, Adam just happened to be first because that is what God wanted, but God very quickly realized, "he is not fit to be alone." Many of us forget that Eve came from Adam's SIDE, NOT from his HEEL!! Men are not supposed to, not made to, and not allowed to be dominant over Woman. It says in a few places of the Bible, that Women should love their Husband and Men to love and respect their Wives AND BE WILLING TO DIE FOR HER, if need be. Quite easy to forget that part...I'd want to most likely. Who wouldn't. I can just see Adam now, "D-d-duh-d-die? L-Lord? Why? Why? OH MAN THAT IS SO LAME!!! AND WHERE IS THE REMOTE???" Kidding. We are different yeah, but both men and woman are supposed to be and were originally created to be perfect compliments to each other. Nothing more, nothing less.

in the eyes of some, women are not equal to men, its just how things have been for upteen years,
Since the days of dawn, women have not been held at the same level as man.
it would appear that this is a man's world.
also, here's the story of Adam and eve (sorry gay guys/gals, Steve/steva was not created 3rd lol)
First, He created Adam, then later (how long, we don’t know) God created Eve… and in doing so He opened the door to describe the SPECIFIC PURPOSE for which Eve was created! He says, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.“
If we want to be really technical it says, “a helper that corresponds to Him.” We have to pay attention to that. What reason was behind God’s creation of Eve? To be a companion for Adam, yes. But also to HELP him in a way that fits him! That’s her PURPOSE as a woman! We can’t let ourselves miss the significance of this! God did not describe Adam in a similar way… He didn’t say, “Adam’s purpose is to help Eve too…” (though most loving husbands do “help” their wives in various ways)
Many women feel slighted by this. They feel demeaned or put down by it. But the reality is this… God created the male/female dynamic in this way FOR A GREAT PURPOSE!
Many of the proponents of male and female sharing of all roles within the church say that simply because Adam was created first, that doesn’t mean that he was created to be “in authority.” I would normally agree… IF… If the language God specifically chose did not say anything about Eve’s PURPOSE. But it does… Her purpose was NOT to be Adam’s leader or even His equal (in the sense of performing the same function), she was made specifically for the purpose of being a “helper” to Adam. God intended her to come alongside Adam, to help him to fulfill his God-given role as a man!

Neither came first.
Women and me are not equal. As a simple example, the strongest woman will always be weaker than the strongest man. However, ther are plenty of women out there that could kick my but if they wanted to. As a counter, the bet male gymnast will always do worse than the best female - to the point where men no longer compete in a whole area of gymnastics.
There are a whole load of physiological and psychological differences between men and women, making men better at some things and women better at others.
To me this is great, men and women complement each other. Together we are greater than we are as two individuals.

I could not see how men were better in the eyes of God than women as a 14 year old. The original sin which is used to put down Eve and thereby all women never happened. Sin does not exist, it is a figment of Christian imagination. I was quoted the Adam and Eve story and some other bible stuff about women obeying their father and then their husband when they married and was told this is the way it is. Women had to wear hats in church in those days. So I left the Church of England, left Christianity over this issue of feminism. I have never regretted it, and in due course found my own Pagan Goddess, who has looked after me and mine far better than the Christian God ever did.

God made Adam first. It's been a man's world for many, many years but things are evening up these days.
Women are definitely equal to men, although I believe men and women compliment each other.
The term 'helpmeat' used in the Bible to describe women is a term of equal standing and in some places can even be superior!

the bible says adam came first and eve was created from adam.
i dont prescribe to the bible or any god so i don't care about the views that can be formed with that, i think the sexes are equal in everyway and that it is sociaty that make people think one way or another about unequality
