If he doesn't remember you he probably isn't that great of a bestest bud.
Just kidding. Of course he'll remember you! My dog always remembered me when I was in college or even when I went out of the country for the semester.
Dogs have been known to remember for years, like if they're adopted by another family and then find their old family. That's always a tricky situation because the dog likes both families and both families like the dog, but thankfully you're not in that situation.
Have fun at camp!

Your dog will not forget you while you're away for 8 weeks. I left my beloved dog for over a year and when I came home she came running out to greet me like everyday before when she would hear my car coming down the road. And she was very excited to see me. I also had to give up two of my dogs but they come by and visit me on occasion (they have great new owners and give me the chance to see them) and they go completely nuts when they see me. I have no doubt that if you are infact "best buds" with your dog then he will have no problem remembering that. Good luck at camp and don't worry about your dog. He will be so excited to see you when you get home.

He'll remember you, no worries. My dog remembers her breeder. The person who had her before me had taken her back to the breeder. She hadn't seen her for a couple years, but always remembers her. You boy won't forget you and will be very happy when you come home. Go have fun at camp!

8 weeks isn't a terribly long time. If he is your bestest bud he will remember you.

they don't "remember" in the same sense that we do. BUT, they do recognize smells and associate those scents to something. i had a dog the first year of her life then i moved away from home and my parents kept her. i come home twice a year and she always knocks me over with excitement and can't stop licking. she ALWAYS knows who i am. and 8 weeks isn't really that long of a time, so i would rest assured that your dog will still be the same around you once you return.

Yes, your dog will remember you.
I rescued a dog and the previous owners wanted to see him after 6 months.
I was walking the dogs and he saw their mini-van parked in front of the house. He froze for a second and then started running/pulling towards the house.
He remembered them and their car too. I was surprised that he recognized their vehicle.

He will remember you, I'm not sure, but I don't think dogs can forget their owners, especially if he's your bestest bud!! :-)

Dogs have long memories, especially for people they love.
My dog remembers and is excited to see the people who fostered him before I got him, even though he only sees them every year or two.
