I am afraid I have to disagree.
Point 1: The numbers of believers show that there are more believers in God than at any other time in history. One example is Catholicism.
According to the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University, the worldwide population of Catholics is as large as it ever has been and is still growing:
1970 = 653,600,000
1975 = 709,600,000
1980 = 783,700,000
1985 = 852,000,000
1990 = 928,500,000
1995 = 989,400,000
2000 = 1,045,000,000
2004 = 1,114,000,000
And in the U.S.:
1965 = 45,600,000
1975 = 48,700,000
1985 = 52,300,000
1995 = 57,400,000
2000 = 59,900,000
2005 = 64,800,000

Point 2: Science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God. All science can do is discover what God has created.
Point 3: While a few Creationists will be upset by more and more proof of evolution, the large majority of Christians do not take the Creation stories of the Bible literally and accept evolution as the best theory so far. Heck, the big bang theory was developed by a Catholic priest.
Most Christians including Catholics believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact. One of the religious truths is that God created everything and declared all was good.
Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.
On August 12, 1950 Pope Pius XII said in his encyclical Humani generis:
The Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God.
Here is the complete encyclical: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html
The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.
As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.
Point 4: Catholics believe the desire for God is written in the human heart, because each person is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw each person to himself.
Most religion is man's attempt to reach out to God to fulfill this desire.
Judaism and Christianity is God reaching out to man to fulfill this desire.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 27: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect1.htm#chpt1
With love in Christ.

The state of religion, in general, is not appreciably different than it has been throughout human history; except that there is less explicit religious influence on temporal power (i.e. governments). Some form of religion appears to be an inherent tendency in human nature, which means it might never disappear completely.

I would suggest you do a little reading in the bible, take a look at revelations and see what it describes as the beginning of the second coming and you will see that many of what it describes has all ready happened so we are drawing nearer and nearer to the second coming

Good luck. It has been around a long time and is not dead yet. As long as there are people there will be a need for some type of religious groups/support. Peace

All religions will pass away, however a personal relationship with Christ never will, and the truth will always remain- when Jesus returns every knee with bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord- then all religions will be gone.

There have been more growing Atheists and Agnostics over the last few years, so it's hard to estimate.
