Yes they are scientifically recognized as humans. A zygote (one of the earliest stages of a life cycle) is a human. I think that the debate you're thinking of is not whether or not it's a human, but whether or not it's a "person". The definitions of what is truly a "person" depends on the individual. Generally, it is a word describing what we think of as a person living physically independent of it's mother's body with rights protected under the law. Some religious people will suggest that an unborn baby is also a person that should have full rights under the law. People who are pro-choice and those within the scientific medical community agree that an unborn baby is not yet a person, but is a living organism that is a developing human in it's earliest stages with very little functionality and comprehension of it's present state. Therefore it is not recognized as a person entitled to any sort of legal protection. The age of viability for a fetus to survive outside of the womb as a baby is 24-26 weeks and even at that point, chance of survival is only 50%. That is why most people view abortion prior to 6 months as justifiable (myself included). Abortion after 6 months is extremely rare and usually the ONLY situations in which a doctor will perform such an abortion is if the pregnancy poses a threat to the woman's life due to complication with the pregnancy. According to the medical terms that describe the different stages of prenatal (pre-birth) human development, none of the prenatal stages of pregnancy include the word "baby". The stages in pregnancy are as follows ... 1. Fertilization 2. Zygote 3. Blastocyste 4. Embryo 5. Fetus -- and remains a fetus until birth. After birth, it is now identified as a baby. The abortion debate is whether or not a woman should be allowed to end her pregnancy, not what we should be calling the living organism inside the woman's body. When you hear a pro-life person say "it's a human being!" they're playing at the emotions. We already know it's human. But is it a person that is entitled to rights? According to medical science, according to the law ... no, it is not.

Two weeks old has not developed into a complete human at that point. Speaking from a purely scientific view point. By the time they reach 6 mo they have developed into a human and could possibly survive outside the womb.

a 2 week old would not survive if it was born and a 6 month old could survive, but it would be born prematurely. A 2 week old would be a miscarriage.

because at 6 months after conception the baby can survive without it's mother. At 2 weeks it can't and in still in foetal formation.

The GRINDERS at the MAKEUP FACTORY are not large enough to handle 6 month olds.
BUT those wiccans, and other witches and pagans may take up donations for a larger grinder any day now.

It MIGHT be because something without a heartbeat, missing organs and no central nervous system is a bit hard to be called a "baby".

I wonder why God doesn't answer the prayers of anti abortionists? He could easily end abortion with one word, but chooses not to?
Its all in the resemblance.
