The two sayings that involve mixing types of alcohol are as follows:

"Beer before liquor, and you'll be sicker"
"Liquor before beer, and you're in the clear"

So... working your way up in strength is a BAD idea - while starting with a shot or two, and then going back down to something "weaker" is better.

However, the BEST thing you can do is stick with ONE type of drink - drink ONLY vodka, for example...

As for where Wine falls into this - it comes between Beer and Spirits. Beer is typically 5%-7% (4% or less for "Lite") alcohol, Wine is about 8%-12%, and Hard Liquor can be anywhere from 20%-40% (with Bacardi 151 topping the charts at 75.5%) ;);););)

It shouldn't matter but you ought to know that the alcohol per volume is greatest for spirits and least for beer with wine in the middle but close to beer. Having said that, one typically drinks more beer than wine and more wine than spirits. Also, there are chemicals associated with each that tend to produce more or less of a hangover with vodka having the least.

It is usual to drink spirits in cocktails before dinner, wine or beer with dinner, and a liqueur afterward but this is not to recommend ALL of these.

wine would be like beer,

it is all about how strong something is

wine is 12.5% Beer is 5.5% and liquor is 40%

so it would be Liqour then wine then Beer. you keep bringing the % down. and then after beer you go to soda, Coke becuase of the peep me up

still do not drive home, it will keep you even keel, but not sober

buy the way this is not a wifes tale, yes it is true that the less you drink the less you will be drunk, but after drink beers, then throwing down high proof, you will get drunk faster, there are chemial reasons for this in the bodie

The whole thing is a old wives tale.. a myth. It was made up by people who drank to much and got sick. Ethanol Alcohol is ethanol alcohol no matter what it is suspended in.

If you drink to much of any alcohol YOU WILL GET SICK.

BK:

One standard serving of a beverage:

12oz Beer
8oz Wine
2oz Liquor/Shot

ALL HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT AND TYPE OF ALCOHOL IN THEM! Alcohol is my hobby. I have spent the past several years learning, purchasing, consuming even making my own alcohol. Before me my father started (the making) in the late 70's.
