Help! Is there a way to stop psoriasis from spreading onto my face?

I have it on my scalp and now it is spreading onto my face. Any suggestions on how to stop this? Can the dr. prescribe anything for me? I don't want to apply that cortisone stuff on my skin because it is pretty strong.

There are a variety of prescription meds that might work. As for over-the-counter remedies, I have used Denorex shampoo on the scaly patches and it does a good job. This stuff is really nasty, but the active ingredient - coal tar - is very effective. A lotion or cream with coal tar might work better on the face - it is very painful if coal tar gets in your eyes.

I had a 13 year history of psoriasis, though I was in good health otherwise. But these severe large, thick and scaly excoriated plaques on my neck, ears, trunk and limbs ruined the way I was leading my life. I would be with red, inflamed itchy skin for most part of the year and these silvery scales would seem to be erupting without any reason. To make matters worse, blisters would appear over already red and itching skin. It was living hell.

I was treated with various options but nothing seemed to be working. I was also given light therapy many times but everything I tried would give me temporary relief.
