Wait, Atheists claim that there is no God. If there is no god, then there is no panhuman code for which to establish morality. Christians, however, claim that there is a god and thus claim that there is a code for which to establish morality.

By the very definitions of the words, atheists have inherently placed themselves outside morality. You have to run in a race before you can place!

But let me offer a comparison: Socrates eventually came to believe that he was the smartest man alive because he knew that he knew nothing. Other men thought they were smart but, upon questioning, were revealed to be ignorant.

Likewise, it could be said that it is better to admit that you are morally corrupt (a real Christian should recognize that among sinners, they are first) than to deny such a truth.

Yet even at that, there are a good number of people who claim to be Christian yet are unaware of the weight of their own sin. Thus, they look down on others and claim superiority. Really, the best a real Christian can do is to point to what true morality is and urge people (and themselves) to strive for it.

Christians answer to God, and He is of a higher order than the thoughts and reasonings of man. We know we are held to a high standard not of our own making.

Now, as to whether any given Christian or atheist is morally superior to another... that's just silliness. I was an atheist for 25 years, and was a very moral person then. I am now a Catholic, and am still a moral person. I think I am a nicer person now - more kind and caring. This is because I know that God expects it of me and I do it out of love for Him.

Now, are there atheists who are more kind, caring and nice than I am right now? I'll bet there are.

Then you are talking to Christians who do not know what they are talking about. I am a Christian and I am just as imperfect as the next person. I still sin...daily. I am still human and not perfect. Being a Christian...truly coming to Jesus Christ...requires an act of humility...the exact opposite to morally superior. So if a Christian is doing this, they have forgotten that they are still unworthy to get into Heaven and it was because of Jesus, not because of ANYTHING anybody anywhere can do, no matter how good, that they are accepted into Heaven. Though I must admit in my imperfection, that I think it is wrong. But, hey, anyone is welcome to watch me do something wrong, and I would always love to be the first to admit it, but I am not...not always. Maybe not even usually. No, Christians are just as unworthy as everybody else. This is not a grey area thing. 1 sin= unworthy. Black and White, can be or cannot be, whatever, but we have all sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

We do not proclaim to be morally superior, we are all sinners. The only thing we do differently is we repent and ask for forgiveness of our sins and try to live a better life each day.

Someday eyes and ears will be open.. and all will see. (But will you be deceived by the one who will try to still all your souls, will you be deceived?) I know you have heard that Christ is the way the truth and the light and that no man commeth to the Father but by him. By his blood, the blood he shed for you on Calvary. Would you be ignorant enough to ignore the inner voice stirring within you telling you that He is the way... and your only hope is to GET TO him? We are saved by grace.(Not BY:money, wealth, fame or good works!)But by grace.. Gods son hung on an old rugged cross bled and died.. descended and rose from the dead on the third day. He paid your price... he paid for your sins so you wouldn't have to spend an eternity in HELL. Hell sure sounds like a scary place to me, but Christ is offering salvation, from that aw full place. Its a scary thing knowing God knows my heart and he knows your heart and it may even be hard to comprehend but he does and I know this because the word says so and because hes alive in my heart today. Why should we be scared of hell why shouldn't you be scared of hell? we all are sinners. Which means we all have done wrong. we all have sinned. And... come short of the Glory of God (GOD is perfect, spotless without sin) there is only forgiveness of those sins through Jesus Christ his son. (John 3:16) As for christions being superior.. there may be atheists who dont lie or cheat or have sex out of marrage or get drunk and who certainly do not take the Lords Name in VAINE. But Christians are suppose to follow what the Bible says is morraly correct, what God says is right. Many people perhaps draw there own line to what is morrally right and wrong because alot of people have different morrals these days. Are Christians proclaiming that they are "morrally superior" or are you proclaiming that
Christians are"morally superior"?

No Christian I know proclaims themselves superior. Christians have recognized their sins and have asked forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. They do then try to tell others that the forgiveness is available to them. This is not saying that of themselves they are morally superior.

Which Christians are you talking about? Morals are independent of religion. Someone who goes to church all the time can consider themselves religious and not act morally. Plenty of Atheist act morally, and I'm sure some are more moral than me. I'm not perfect. I see no basis for your question.

I never heard that before. An athiest could very well have a fine moral compass. They're the ones who hate Christians! Quite frankly, I feel sorry for them. I would love to be able to tell them about the love they are missing out on from a truely awesome God. Maybe some day we'll just be able to chat about life, with genuine concern for one another.

Christians do not claim to be morally superior to atheists. An atheist can live a very moral life even superior to a Christian.
As Christians, our lives should be exemplary but that is not always the case. "All have sinned...." Saint Paul says.

I am Christian and I do not proclaim myself morally superior to anyone. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Not one is without sin and all sins are equally bad. It says in the Bible that a lie is just as bad as murder.
