the guiness book of records says the worlds tallest dog is an harlequinn great dane, but that is unusual danes are not the tallest of all breeds, wolfhounds are. all breeds of dogs can range from smaller than average to larger or taller than average it depends on the parents of that particular dog not the breed as a whole. with that said just because a particular harlequinn dane was the guiness book's tallest dog it dosn't mean that all halequinns are that tall, in fact I heard that the other puppies from that dogs litter where average size he is what we would consider an abnormality because of his great height. I have a wolfhound but I also favor the halequinn danes myself.

That is a good question. The colors of our Jersey Wooly rabbits tend to affect other physical characteristics. Agoutis seem to have shorter coats while REWs tend to have longer coats although I have seen individual rabbits that don't follow the rule it seems to be pretty accurate.

I don't see why it couldn't be the same with dogs. Remember that to breed for color your will be working with a more limited gene pool and the other physical characteristics, such as height, of the group you are working with are sure to also be emphasized in that group.

I have heard that Black Danes tend to be finer boned than other colors. That seems to be that case with our Black Dane girl but our breeder does have an enormous dog that weighs 190 lbs and his eyes come up to my chest. He's certainly not short by Dane standards. Anyway, the heaviness of the bone does not correlate with height.

Try asking the National Dane breed club secretary that question. He/she will probably know better than anyone here.

If you are thinking of getting a Dane, remember that height is not an indicator of health. It can actually be a problem. If a breeder says they breed for height I'd take that as a huge red flag and run the other way. A sound dog is what you want. All Danes are tall. Males are much taller than females.

Below is a link to a pic of our Black Dane girl (click on second link and scroll down).

color has no indication of what size the great dane will grow too. You should just cross your fingers and hope for a large, healthy dog. Just like the colors of labs, it does not ascertain anything in terms of size. The only thing it can possibly indicate is if the Great Dane is deaf. A white face, with white ears sometimes indicates a lack of hearing.

Color is not related with how tall a dog will be at all. It depends on the general size of parents and what other puppies they have produced are like. There is no way to tell untill at least a year old. Your best bet is to get an older rescue if you want a certain size.

Color does not matter on how tall you Dane is going to grow. To get a better Dane try breeding two HIGH QUALITY Danes together and you'll sooner or later get the one you're looking for.

I raise Great Danes and don't think it's in the color at all. Males are definitely bigger then females. Look at the parents.

Color has nothing to do with size. Look at the size of the parents and that should give you a good idea.

No, they are all the same, and it is more of how they were bred ,and genetics....not color.
