Some would say it is, it is a system of beliefs that guides a person's choices in life. I guess I should just let the atheists give their views, but it still seems like an anti-religious religion to me.

There are philosophies that are non-religious and associated with atheists, agnostics, and non-theists (secular humanism), but atheism is not a religion -- it is a lack of belief in deities.

Learn how to spell before you tackle concepts.

Does atheism require the organized belief in the supernatural
or the prostration before deities or rituals? No. It does not meet any of the definitions of religion.

Edit: To the poster below me: Those are some wonderful ideas. However, I do not agree with the majority of them.

"Silly, if you ask me, because anything that we do not currently know or understand falls under the 'supernatural' section, and I am 100% sure that Science hasn't explored everything yet. In fact, we only have the faculties to perceive four dimensions."

Of course humans haven't discovered everything. I have not ruled out the possibility for billions of things that humans have not discovered. We are a single species in a very small part of the universe -- things like infrared light are out of our ordinary senses. But to term these current unknowns "supernatural" and place them in the same category as religious belief systems that require worship without evidence or denying we already know exists (such as evolution) is misguided. The universe is everything that exists. Even if there were other dimensions, as predicted by string theory, that does not mean they would be exempt from physical laws, or headed by a deity devised by men a few thousand years ago. Let's not mistake open mindedness for intellectual suicide. I'm happy to learn more, and change as the evidence allows. I'm awed by the thought that there is something amazing just over the next horizon, and that our universe will never be fully known by us -- but that doesn't mean I should give credence to "faith" systems that do not try to understand the universe with the same openess -- by evidence.

my belief is that athistism is a religion all according to the fact that there is no religion. an athiest doenst believe in religion as a whole, but by having a group of people not believe and believe in the same things, it becomes a religion. so it is by the fact that it isnt

Atheism is not a religion, it's the absence of metaphysical belief. Silly, if you ask me, because anything that we do not currently know or understand falls under the 'supernatural' section, and I am 100% sure that Science hasn't explored everything yet.
In fact, we only have the faculties to perceive four dimensions. Length, width, height, time--that's all. There are at least 7 more dimensions which we have absolutely no means with which to investigate, presently, which leaves 6 dimensions of supernatural (eventually natural when they're explained) activities.

According to dictionary.com, religion is a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

With this in mind, Atheism does meet the criteria to be a religion.

Since Atheism is illogical( you cannot prove a negative absolute) it MUST be considered a religion because it takes
more faith to believe in something than can never be proven than some thing that science can give credence to such as the God of the Bible.

Do you mean atheism?
If so, no.
Religion is 'the belief in a superhuman controlling power...'
Atheists do not believe in superhuman controlling powers.
Also, religions generally of a certain set of beliefs and followers have many common beliefs based on their books or teachings. The only thing atheists all have in common is no belief in a superhuman controlling power ( 3 times in a paragraph for that phrase must be a record).

Atheism is a religion like not collecting coins is a hobby.

There is no central belief structure other absence of deity. There is no system of practice or worship. These characteristics distinguish it from religion, including atheistic religions such as Buddhism.
