"love" in the sense of wanting good things for them.

example: I don't want to be involved with John/Jane Doe's life, I don't particularly care for them or their lifestyle; but wish them well and no harm. (?)

I feel this way about my sister...

Yes. Love has many definitions. Some folks you simply can't be around for a long period of time, or see/talk to everyday. Holidays are a great example; you see them over turkey dinner, couple laughs, hugs, then, on their way. Your example you give is simply another way of saying we are different people, we don't get along the best, but love them dearly, and them the best. My sister and I used to be this way: I loved her for being my sister, beyond that, didn't like her. The many definitions of love!

We can always try. It is very hard for me to show love and grace to people who I do not like. It is easier here on R/S, but in real life, I stay away from people I do not like. I can pray for them, in a group. I guess I have a lot to learn about loving my neighbors, LOL

Good question.
There are people I love, but whom I find so corrupt in their actions that I cannot be near them. I don't mean they are a little naughty, I mean they are wicked, hurtful and dangerous. I can't be a part of that. I can't have it in my life. I had to walk away. But I love them, and I'm glad to have known them. I still see the good in them. That's the hardest part.

Yes, our biological drive to procreate can put us in a relationship with someone we don't even like.

EDIT: Upon rereading the question this might not be relevant.

This is neither love nor 'like'. It's caring and good heart towards another fellow human.

yes it is possible, what i think happens is everything you loved about the person in the beginning you start hating them for it so you love them but you do not like them .

I don't count wishing someone well as love. You can not like someone and wish them well, but you don't love them.
