My rottweiler had her first litter of 11 4 days ago. She has been helping them to pee but not to poo. i have been helping by using damp cotton wool for the last few days but now they have all stopped going. Have tried rubbing there tummies but only a few of them have managed to go. i am very worried so will be going to the vets tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had any advice in the mean time?

ok i am cleaning there bottoms at the vets advice. I am also bottle feeding them to supplement them so staying out moms way isnt possible. I have raised litters before but never had constipated puppies.

More than likely you just haven't seen the poop, because the mom will eat it after they go. Maybe you should call the vet, and ask what you should do until the appointment, sometimes, using a washcloth that you don't really need anymore will work better to rub their bottoms with. Make sure that you are rubbing in small circular patterns. Are they eating from mama almost 24/7, and they cannot be handled too often.

Why are you messing with the puppies?
Leave them alone and let the momma dog take care of them, especially if they're only 4 days old.
Just make sure the momma dog is being taken care of.

Let mom do her thing. I really don't think you should be handling them that young in the first place. I'm sure the mom knows what to do better than you do at this point.

Are you sure mom isn't taking care of the poo? If they aren't going for you, they are probably going for her.
