It was not written by God himself.
It was written by man. Who says Joshy, Amos, Jonah, King Solomon, or Luke conveyed the exact feelings of God? Maybe they also wrote in their personal beliefs.

Why do you give so much authority to a document written two THOUSAND years ago?

Because so much of it makes sense. It was inspired by God even if not written by him. People need a place to start from and rules help society survive. Peace

The Holy Spirit which is a part of the godhead, inspired men to write the bible. The bible is Gods word and should be respected and obeyed.

i follow out of respect and obedience to my God, the fact that authority on all levels still showing respect to that 2000 year old document has some significance to its importance, dont you think?

yes it was written THRU JESUS thru visions to apostles..
cuz im born again... THE personal experience of conversion is what sways ppl and then they can see many things...pray for wisdom

i guess you could say the same thing about science, the bill of rights, the constitution, history books and so on.
