I've only been here a short while, but what I've noticed more than anything is that thumbs up and down thing. It seems as though some people give a thumbs up or down simply because they agree with or do not agree with the answer even though the answer is factually correct. If you had to explain -- I gave thumbs down because I just don't like the answer -- would you still do it?

Yes, most people give thumbs down if they don't agree with the answer ... and it is usually opinions, not facts.

I don't give a thumbs down unless someone is RUDE.

great idea- however I give a thumbs down when that person has been offensive- I cannot agree with everyone- that is true- but just because I disagree I would never give a thumbs down-

I would still give thumbs up or down.
I have wondered why thumbs down bothers so many people on here. Yet they wear it as a thing of pride when they get kicked off YA.
Some people!

I absolutely were on YA for purely per week and it really is glaring to me that some Answerers have sock puppets (fake expenditures) to up vote their own solutions and down vote all others on a similar question, both at present or in the time of vote casting. it ought to oftentimes take an somewhat diffused form the position the account that those unhappy human beings try to spice up will absolutely praise different solutions at the same time as providing no longer something of authentic substance yet without word receive different up votes with the respectable solutions taking position. i have basically talked about it again on really some my questions - possibly it really is extra of a topic with diverse sorts that entice a youthful target audience, because it really is, frankly, completely juvenile.

I think it's a great idea.

I try not to give thumbs-down to answerers who state their opinion. I only give thumbs-down to rude answers, and to answers which claim to be fact but are actually opinion.

I used to explain sometimes why I gave answers thumbs up or down...but I got too many violations for chatting.

Great Idea! I have thumbs down for giving simple honest answers and could not understand it.

I've given several factually correct answers and been given thumbs down. Usually with regards to questions on Islam. I figure screw it, it says more about them that do it.

I give thumbs up or down depending on if I feel the answer was relevant or stupid or wrong.

Yes I would. I give a thumbs down if I disagree with the answer. I give a thumbs up if I agree with it or if it makes me laugh. I leave it alone if I don't have an opinion on what they said.

It certainly would discourage people from it.

Although how many "thumbs down" and answer gets has no bearing on its being chosen as Best Answer or anything. It doesn't even really have any bearing on anything, for that matter.

Hahah people are giving everybody thumbs down for answering this question. Clever.
