Why do you dislike both Catholicism and the Catholic Church so much? And please don't tell me that you don't dislike Catholicism or the Catholic Church when I have seen plenty of times where a majority of you constantly argue and criticize Catholicism and the Catholic Church. Well now's your time to speak now or forever be silent. So what bothers you that you dislike Catholicism and the Catholic Church? Is it the statues which aren't being worshipped by the way? Is it the Eucharist? Is it the infant baptism? Is it that Mary is paid respect? Is it that you wouldn't have bibles if it wasn't for the Catholic Church? What exactly is it?

Kai it's a majority of the Protestants who come on here who do the criticizing. Perhaps you should study the board a bit more before making your assumptions.

This was one of the finest examples of working THROUGH the barriers that I have recently seen:

http://www.catholicprotestant.com/

I was raised Catholic, became a Pentecostal, and now attend both a Pentecostal and a Bapti-costal chuch. By the way don't ask me what a Bapti-costal church is, cause I can't explain it. It just feels like one. A whole lotta great sold foundational bible teaching, a whole lotta great presence-desiring worship, and a little bit a' 'don't believe in all those Holy Spirit gifts so much - you know like tongues' - even tho I frequently find my prayer language (tongues) just bubbling up from the river that flows out of me especially during worship and they haven't kicked me out yet.

To your question.....real Christians have been given a ministry of reconciliation. And that's what I think we NEED to be all about. This is why I love the story you will find on the website I cited. I believe so will you.

uh...i dont dislike catholics...my gramma is one and she's the person i love the most.sometimes, i will accompany her at her church

well, most protestants dislike catholics because of different beliefs.its the same for most religions...first, the bible does mention that Christ is the only mediator between God and so there shouldnt be popes, and there isnt one in the bible.

second, te rosary.this style of praying with rosary beads arent mention in the bible.

paying respect to Mary in my opinion is ok but we shouldnt bow to statues or make statues of jesus.that is idol worshipping.God is angry when Aaron(if im not mistaken) build a statue for the ppl to worship as god

the infant baptism too, i think one should be baptized at his own will, when he truly understand the meaning and purpose of baptism

besides, most catholic church celebrate christmas and easter...

it is also said that catholic bibles have additional chapters

to sum it up, all the differences between protestant and catholic is what made some protestants dislike catholics, and vice versa.its not that by disliking each other will make thing s better... erm i hope u'll be satisfy with my answer

oh btw, u dont have to apologise.i dont find ur question rude at all.well, maybe some have been offended.anyways , take care XD

The only thing that I find myself disliking about the catholic church is that mary is given so much appreciation and even worshiped and prayed to. Mary was only Jesus's way into the world, the way that humans would understand, the same way that any other child is born. The Bible tells us to pray to God or Jesus. Never did the Bible instruct "Hail Mary" or "worship and pray to her because Jesus does not love you as much as Mary does" My Mother who was once a catholic told me that people in the Catholic church told her that if you pray to mary, she will go to Jesus with the prayer and that Jesus will only help your prayer request because he loves his mother so much he will do anything for her. I believe that Jesus loves mary no more than He loves anyone else. She was an imperfect human just like everyone else, but Jesus still loves her, just not any more love for her that he would give her the authority to be worshiped, prayed to and given more importance than Jesus himself.

In hopes that your mind isn't quite as calcified as your question indicates: Nothing "bothers" me, and I don't dislike Catholics or Catholicism. Please, feel free to look through my answers and find me even one where I argue against or criticize Catholics. I'll wait...

There are aspects of Catholic dogma with which I disagree, so I will never become Catholic, but that's not the same thing.

Some examples: Papal infallibility. I'm sorry, but I see no Scriptural basis for that. (Yes, I know - it's very limited. It's still too broad for my tastes.)

The Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception - seems to me, if we buy that, then Anne must've been sinless as well, and so on back through the matrilineal line. I don't see the necessity.

There are others, but this isn't the place to detail them all.

That having been said, there is very little in Catholicism with which I disagree that I consider important. Most Catholic doctrine is spot on. I know that some Catholics are Christians because I know them. I'm willing to believe that most are. I know that some who claim to be Catholic are not Christian - and in the one particular case I have in mind, I can give you detailed reasons why, if you care to listen. I suspect you'll agree with me.

So - now that I've answered your questions, any chance you can explain to me your apparent distaste for Protestants?

The Church covered up for priests that were molesting children. Looking the other way and transferring child molesters is disgraceful. I am a Protestant who for a time gave serious thought to converting to the Catholic Church. Also, if John Paul II is made a saint, it will be a joke. He knew there was a problem and looked the other way. I can't understand why Catholics think he was a Holy Man. He was an enabler of pedophiles.

I dont like the worship/hail of Mary. Who told you people to do that? AND........ no one gave the catholic church the right to declare everyone a saint! Where did that come from? Maybe I should become catholic so I can be a saint. And this pope guy. He's just a man!! He can't bless anything! God blesses things. I'll think of some more soon and email them to you.

I dislike the "pride" that you exhibited in your question. Especially the part where you said "Is it that you wouldn't have bibles if it wasn't for the Catholic church?"

If the Catholic Church never existed, I think God could still get his Word across to all who will receive. It was to the Jew first, then the Gentile.

I actually have nothing against Catholics. I just feel bad that the people you came across were like that. What you're doing is generalizing. So you're latino, right? It's like saying "all Latinos come from Mexico and they all work on migrant farms", a pretty unjustified, offending and ungrounded comment, right? Same thing you're doing here. Instead of asking here, why don't you ask the same folks who were criticizing your faith?

They preach another gospel and diminish the work of Christ on the cross for the complete, utter, total forgiveness of sins for His people. Do some study into the reformation and why it occurred, and you will understand.
