Many of them don't understand the extent of the problem. There are hundreds of thousands of children born to illegal aliens and alien visitors each year in the US. They cost us billions of dollars a year in social benefits, and they are often loyal to their parents country, not to the USA.

Also, liberal and Hispanic politicians know that these anchor babies will likely be future voters for the Socialist (Democrat) party. If politicians do support The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007, by Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA), they will be labled as racists, immigrant haters, and xenophobes by La Razans, liberals, and the MSM.

The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007, by Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA), would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to eliminate birthright citizenship. Our current policy results in over 300,000 additional citizens from anchor babies each year. The demographic impact is far greater because their families stay and bring in additional relatives. Anchor babies are eligible to sponsor their illegal alien parents and other relatives when they turn 21. Moreover, taxpayers pick up the tab for the medical costs and subsequent welfare outlays because of the child's citizenship status.

The 14th Amendment, passed to guarantee the citizenship of freed slaves, grants citizenship to anyone born here and "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States. HR 1940 acknowledges the right of birthright citizenship established by the 14th amendment to the Constitution, but says a person born in the United States is considered "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States only if one of the parents is a citizen, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent, or an alien performing active service in the armed forces.

It would require partially repealing the 14th Amendment, which would, itself, require an amendment. Ratifying amendments is a lenghty and difficult process.

A more likely way to get rid of the 'anchor baby' effect would be for the Supreme Court to re-interpret that Amendment. Still pretty unlikely though. And, the repercussions in the long run would almost certainly be undesireable (a permanent underclass of heriditary non-citizens).

I believe that they will recognize that the interpretation of the ammendment has been wrong. How can an illegal be under the jurisdiction of the USA? It is so ridiculous to think that they would be. Their mere prescence is against the law and their progeny should be of the same persuasion as their parents. Mexico as helped to prove that by not allowing any of their nationals to be subject to the death penalty.

Because they want the illegals coming here so they can have cheap labor. If there is an anchor law inplace, it make it easier for them to stay & not be kicked back like illegals need to be!

Yep, ditch that regulation and kick out all unlawful immigrants. this is the only thank you to save united statesa. from those illegals. i like how some human beings enhance how we permit the immigrants in from Europe yet they in no way seem to declare that those human beings have been legally registered in united statesa. and not the illegals that slip into the U. S. interior the decrease back of trucks. I say deport all of them...babies and all and in the event that they get an American woman pregnant, deport them too.

after the civil war the blacks was offered to go back to Africa, free of charge. they asked where will the go, they are of mixed tribes, the Africans would kill them. so they stayed. they was also told to speak the language of that the Constitution was written in because alot of blacks refused to give up their native language and people here couldn't understand them. while in slavery the blacks invented pig latin. i really wish people would read their history.
