Have they checked her for Alzheimer's or dimentia
This is a prevelent problem in the aging.
They should try B-12 also because older people suffer from very low levels of B-12. B-12 can help older people think more clearly....Sometimes the lack of B-12 has been mistaken for dimentia...............She could be nutrient deficient.

There is so many things that can screw us up....I will note that my stepdad, when he didn't have enough potassium, or salt, in his system....due to the extreme diets he was put on, he would actually forget who we were..NO DEMENTIA, or ALZ so have her blood checked for common things....potassium, salts etc........Have the doctors check for kidney infections, and function and fluid intake etc. If the kidneys aren't doing their job to filter out the body of fluids, this can cause problems with memory as well. Keeping everything on track is the key........Don't assume the Doctors are doing it all....ask them for the results, of salt, and potassium in her blood, also kidney tests etc......they skimp whenever they can.....
