“All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.” So, were they speaking specifically of the scripture that existed at the time they wrote this? The New Testament as we know it today did not exist. It was put together by man centuries later. Anyway, yes the Old Testament is very important since, according to the Gospels in the NT, Jesus quoted the OT several times! Peace :)

A knowledge of history would only enrich ones understanding of the Bible.
Like everyone else, they have not delved into the history surrounding the Bible.
I would say a firm -- YES!

Since they don't know that the bible is a history book, I would doubt that they'd recognize one.

Your first two answers shows you the narrow and uninvestigative mind you are dealing with.
Christians would be well adviced to read history books.
I have spent tens of years investigating and researching history, and nearly all the new testiment is just a fairy story.
Wake up christians and do a little thinking for yourselves..

Umm, Luther did not agree with a few books being canonical, but he did not remove them. We know our history, thank you very much.
