what is the year and value of a stevens 311 series h shotgun side x side and it's a 12 ga.

Look under the barrels on the frame, or in front of the trigger guard etc and see if you can find a small circle with a letter and a number in it. If you can. that's a date code. It's not the same as a serial number, though!

A=1949....X=1970 there was no "O" or "Q". Write those out on a sheet of paper and you'll have your date.

If your weapon has a serial number, it was made after 1968. If it's serialized and after 1970 when the date code system ran out (1970), there's no really sure way to tell the date. Some folks claim the letter in front of the serial number counts, but it's not really accurate. The same letters can be and often are found on guns three and four years apart.

Look for the date code and cross your fingers, sir!

Value-wise, they aren't really collectible in any way, nor are they rare. I buy them....I like them. You won't get above $150 if it's not in really pristine condition. $120 tops for a good used one.
