My son thinks you deserve his for sure, and he's only 10.
Today, as part of our commemoration of Veteran's Day, we had a BBQ, as a lot of Americans do, but my son didn't want to eat his coleslaw (he's finicky), so I told him, "if you don't eat it, I'm going to tell the Vets on you."

He jumped to attention and said, "Okay, nevermind, I'll eat it."

He ate it all, and I made sure to give him a big scoop!

See, after all you Ladies and Gentlemen have done for our country, you still have the same effect of respect as Veterans, even in the young, who have never seen the pains of war.

We are grateful to you, for everything, but you get a little added extra today for making my son eat his veges!

Have a terriffic Day, and thank you all.

PS This is a true story, and I'm still laughing about it!

The amount of respect a Veteran deserves depends on the individual that is giving the respect ! One must search ones` heart and soul to find out ; and know themselves for who they really are to grant respect ! If you search your heart and soul , and realize that a Veteran did something you know within your self that you could not have done what the Veteran did , then you owe the Veteran all the respect you can muster from the deepest part of your soul ! Give God the Glory for allowing the USA to be Blessed with the quality of Veterans we have had representing the USA for over 2 centuries !!

xenypoo----I admire you very much for having raised this fine young man all by yourself the way you are---as a single parent it is difficult----I watch as he grows and matures under your guidance and nurturing and pray he will never have to serve but I do know full well if necessary he will proudly serve as well. I see all these fine men and women of the armed forces who do serve so that we can remain free and I respect them with great appreciation--------I have an uncle who has recently completed his stint in Iraq and is back home now------and he tells of how the people over there are very grateful to US for our efforts to establish liberty for them....God Bless the U.S.A. and our men and women of all branches of the service no matter where they are stationed for their part in doing what it takes to get 'er done. THANK YOU

Two of my guys dressed as soldiers for Halloween. Imagine that... they could be anything they want on Halloween night, and they wanted to be soldiers! They are 13 and 10. Now my 7 year old was a pirate and my 3 year old girl was a "Beacock" as she says it. She made a beautiful peacock.

My sons always want to salute and thank "army guys" when they see them. I make sure we take the time for them to do so.

THANKS TO ALL WHO SERVE, HOME AND ABROAD!

As to the question, how much do I "deserve"? I don't think I deserve any, I have to earn respect from anyone I meet.

As to your son, its sounds like he has really good parents who have instilled a good set of values in him...Great Job!! Tell him this Vet respects his Mom!

One soldier serving in Iraq was chatting with a guy back in the States. It seems the guy and his daughter were watching the news and there was a spot about the war in Iraq.

The little girl watched for a bit and then asked her dad if they were real, or it was a movie.

He told her they were real.

She asked if they could be killed.

Her father said, "Yes, they can die."

She asked why they just don't come home.

Her dad told her that there some very bad people who wanted to hurt some very good people.

The little girl watched for a bit longer and said, "Then they're real heroes."

The dad said, "Yes darling, they're real heroes."

To all the heroes, past, present, and future, Thanks, and take care.

I only wish I had heard thanks like this when we came home. It would have probably saved many from going over the edge.

Thanks for the story, and be proud of your son, I am.

That is an awesome story.

I'm glad that many out there do respect Veterans because they do deserve it. Regardless that we do sign up as volunteers, it takes a very brave person to defend what they believe in.

Thanks for your support and putting a smile on my face.
