Educating people about the harm religion does to society helps the rest of us survive more easily. Getting rid of all the religion in the world won't stop people from torturing and killing others, but it will take away one of the prime excuses for doing so.

I like to talk to people about religion, because as humans many of us have evolved the ability to reason.

Many people are stuck in a cycle of indoctrination, and do not spend the time to evaluate their religious beliefs logically or reasonably.

I believe that by helping people confront some of the problems with religion, I am, in a way, helping them evolve rationally.

Using ration to one day, rid the world of faith based belief, will increase our ability to survive. You may disagree, but looking at history, shows time and time again that faith based belief is not good for the survival of the human race.

Look at the Sudan, faith based religious belief has killed millions of people there over the last couple of decades.

I am trying to make the world a better place for my kids and one day, yours.

Well, I could answer this a few ways.

First answer: You're acting like atheism's main goal is to evolve our will to survive. Atheism is a lack of a belief in a god and nothing more. No goals, no motivation, other than to seek the truth.

Second answer: Atheism isn't against religion anyway. Plenty of atheists value religion greatly, such as Buddhism.

Third answer: I am fascinated by how many people are swayed by what appears to me to be obvious made up stories that are no different than Greek mythology.

Fourth answer: Because we are interested in helping people think for themselves.

The moment you limit yourself to solely committing to things such as evolution or the will to survive is the minute you leave behind thousands of years of culture and fall victim to barbaric human instincts such as war, individual competition and the like. I would hope that you might be somewhat more cultured than this, then again, it is a lot to ask.

Cause I don't give a damn about helping to evolve our will to whatever --
I just talk religion cause I'm a loud mouth know-it-all. Still, the church folks are ahead of me on that score.

Because they want to convert us and then turn around and accuse Christians and well all religious people of that very same thing. Isn't it funny? There is a word for that. Oh what is it, it's right there on the tip of my tongue.

Oh yeah now I got it............Hypocrite.

Who says it doesn't? Of course, my reply is based on my understanding of your question, which is kind of presumptuous because I'm not even sure that YOU know what you're talking about.

Since according to Community Guidelines I HAVE to answer your question, though, even though it doesn't make sense...
Because.
