See, there are lines that just shouldn't be crossed. EU, as an american Muslim, I have found your questions and answers to be insightful and intelligent, but since I'm from Alabama, the heart of the "Bible Belt", I do take offense at this question. Some of the most intelligent and enlightened people in U.S. history have come from the South. The people there are more apt to TRULY believe in their religion than in more "liberal" states, and they should be respected, if for no other reason, simply because they have TRUE FAITH, however misplaced it may be. Traditions run deep in the South, which is also a good thing. Tolerance is a dirty word to me, so even though many people in the South operate on a set of ideologies which I know, having been told by Allah subha'ana wa ta'ala through Hadith and Quran, are incorrect, I have a great deal of respect for the conservative Christians from the South Eastern United States. They support the same moral standards as I do, they believe strongly in God, although they misplace faith in the "Trinity" concept. They have been brainwashed to believe that Islam is their enemy, but Insha'Allah, one day the TRUTH will be made clear to them, and they will at least realize that Islam and Conservative Christianity are more alike than different.

This is a tough one. I hate to generalize, so I really can't say.

I have one friend from the Bible Belt. He's in Georgia, he is a Baptist and attends church. He is also a very intelligent man who is well versed in science and politics and is, in spite of his claims to the contrary, quite a progressive thinker. He and I are very different from one another, but I love that guy to death :)

So, from my limited experience, I would say it is unsafe to make a sweeping generalization about the entire region.

1 Corinthians 1:18-20
"For the preaching of the CROSS
is to THEM THAT PERISH foolishness
but unto us which are SAVED
it is the POWER OF GOD.

For it is written
"I (God) will destroy the wisdom of the wise (educated) and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent (tolerance).

God chooses weak things to shame things thought to be mighty in power. God uses things that men do not even realize exist to counteract things which are institutions erected and relied upon by man.

Three airplanes on 9/11 shook up this country to the point of war and yes God allowed the Twin Towers to come down. He is a sovereign God.

One hurricane took out the whole city of New Orleans. This city celebrates evil and God has always loved using the weather to make fools of men. Ask any weatherman you know.

Every time we see Israel suffer for anything we have done or pushed or requested or been involved in, you will see punishment in America.

He/she that thinks they are wise, better have wisdom from the Lord and not wise by man's standard. In His word, God promises this man that he will be made foolish.

We are seeing God's word of "God has made foolish the wisdom of this world" coming more frequent. Every time you hear, "I would have never thought of that" remember the Word of God.

Wisdom comes from God and God only. Can't get it in College or University or High Tech School. Man doesn't have it until God gives it to him.

Could Hurricane Katrina have been something like this:
Jeremiah 23:19
"Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury,
Even a grievous whirlwind
It shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked."

Verse 20 "The anger of the Lord shall not return (turn back) until He have executed, and till He have performed the thoughts of His heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly."

I think that is a tag liberals and athiests put on the Bible Belt, so they are not "known for it". Its just made up garbage.

Is it just coincidence that no athiests are in Heaven? (Same rediculous question)
