First off, this isn't illegal immigrant bashing. It's just an honest observation.
The word 'immigrant' conjures up images of someone who comes to this country with the intention of living the 'American dream', assimilating to a reasonable degree, and who wants to be a loyal part of this nation.
The majority of illegal 'immigrants' have no love, loyalty, or desire to become 'part of' America. They're just desperate for work that pays better than in Mexico, and want to send money back home. Many of them flat out despise our country, and aren't shy about expressing it. They have no intention of assimilation. Many even refer to 'reconquista'.
To me, the term 'immigrant' is completely inappropriate to these persons. The term 'migrant' refers to someone who temporarily goes somewhere, with no intention of setting down roots, assimilating, or becomming a part of the community.
Shouldn't we start calling them 'Illegal Migrants'??
